  1. Something else has to be going on. It should be under 10V whether in the sump or the tank. It is normal to have a few volts induced naturally. I have about 3 in my FW tanks and 4'ish in my SW tank with everything running. Saltwater is a better conductor so it naturally ends up with more induced voltage than freshwater. I am assuming you are all testing on the AC setting and that your meter doesn't have an adjustment scale. Mine has 3 AC settings 200V, 500V and 1000V. If you have it on a lower or higher setting the reading changes accordingly. Just ruling out the obvious. Also, make sure to test your meter in an outlet so that you can verify it's reading ~110.
  2. I'm assuming you're using an API test kit for the ammonia, otherwise, you could still be in a cycle. That No3 and PO4 shouldn't be any problem for those coral. Possibly too much light. Are the coral in direct flow?
  3. 48 taken down, tank moved to: http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/28540-90-gallon-rimless-build-thread/
  4. What sort of voltage meter are you measuring on? I might borrow one just to confirm the readings. For something like this grounding wouldn't matter. You're not actually shorting something in the tank it's induced voltage in the water from a spinning electronic object.
  5. Nice. So that's an external vertical overflow if I'm seeing it right? Only reason it would concern me some is that the tank would drain to the level of the hole if you lost power.
  6. That seems really high to me. I typically have around 4V in the tank or sump. Normally if there is any actual short into the tank you will read full line voltage. You can't really leak partial voltage, but I've never seen equipment cumulatively induce voltage like this.
  7. The move into the 90 starts today...

Have a couple. My back is so sore I'm not sure I can lift a camera right now.

  8. Are you able to opt out of ads as a forum owner?
  9. I think a Pico sub forum in tank builds would be a good idea.
  10. I've seen Amazon offer this app for free several times for android as well. Not today, but here's the link to their app store. The daily free app is always on the main spot. http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011
  11. That's a very simple version of it but more or less it is correct. Freshwater work the opposite by osmotically absorbing water. I think the dips kill certain pathogens, probably also due to osmosis. Cell walls don't like rapidly changing salinity.
  12. Need to borrow some ~36" bar clamps for a few days if anyone has some.

I got 2 for doing wood work, there straight flat steel not bar tube though.

  13. I don't saltwater fish much, but I typically sell my fly fishing stuff on ebay. Can't get a fair price on craigslist.
  14. Get all the fish out and treat them in a hospital tank. You then need to leave the tank fish-less for about 6 weeks to ensure there is no chance of any ich in it. I would absolutely under no circumstance treat the DT directly. It will render your rock and sand completely unusable forever, and may make the tank itself unusable depending on what treatment you use.
  15. I've seen several where the wall behind the tank is painted light blue and it gives a really cool gradient effect. Haven't ever seen one like this though. Really give the tank depth, at least in pictures. I would definitely like to see one close up.
  16. Got another tank for my office. I swear this hobby is like a disease and I'm certainly terminal.

Well, there's a lot worse ways to spend your money AND time. :)

  17. Only thing that really irked me was that shark fiasco. I don't watch it much but it's entertaining. They definitely fill a niche that most reef keepers want nothing to do with.
  18. That's crazy. I don't know how you would keep track of them all.
  19. Isn't that insane!? (If you're serious that's cool, I'll need the pp up front tho) Cool fish but it better come with a 10yr warranty and do some amazing tricks. Possibly do water changes itself, eat bryopsis & aiptasia, etc, too. Wow. Not at all on either... I can think of about 3000 things I would buy before a $3000 - 4" fish. Actually eating bryopsis might be worth it though.
  20. I just sold a car so sign me up for that soap fish they currently have http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=188631
  21. The newer roy guerrero course off of riverside is nice if you can get on it before the crowds show up. It's got to be one of the longer ones in Austin. Searight is an awesome course. Circle-C if you're ever way southwest.

They've found several in Lake Travis and surrounding lakes as well.
  23. Not sure what your budget is but check out the reef brite tech LED's as well. They are extremely bright and come in several color combos. The actinic only really make coral pop.
  24. I knew I could fit a purple tang in mine. Thanks for confirming.
