You could use some pvc piping and live rock to create the cliff, and utilize that dead space underneath as a crypic zone. Steve Tyree did a speech on it at C4, seemed very interesting and he had a lot of good research on a crypic zone's benefits. The Vivid Aquariums 800g incorporated PVC and an acrylic shelf to create a similar effect. It looks pretty good, but would only work if you had an acrylic aquarium. It's also the same stuff that a lot of commercial and large public aquariums use for "rockwork" in their tanks. http://www.polygem.com (As always, not affiliated in any way, your mileage may vary, yada yada yada.) So what's the advantage to using the Polygem vs dry live rock? Is it the weight or versatility?

After 3 years of me not being around, it looks like we need to bring the Pizza hut/Taco bell tank thread back out.
