my manifold has a "bypass" extra valve... so im using this to raise my salinity. very low flow, through a cup fill w/ 1cup of salt. once a day, raises it slow about .7ppt (well, /7ppt over last day anyways). gotta love smoky moes cups, eh @Christyef?
  2. and we thought ty's move was ridiculous.... nice planning, allowed for flexibility if stuff arose, which it did. we want more picts!

So i picked up a milwaukee MA887, yesterday (thanks ross!), calibrated it, and ran my water... ugh. 32. which still in range, really makes some of my struggles make sense now. gonna take a reading a couple more times throughout the day before i adjust salinity accordingly. if you use anything else, throw it away, get one of these.

who has an apex online willing to test a new ARC feature out thats not completely ready for all yet?
  7. When i moved my biocube29 from denver, all its inhabitants survived and thrived until i didnt maintain it about 2yrs later. I used 5gal buckets. 1 for rocks, 1 for corals (used "eggcrate" for divers, and 2 for fish. each had some sand. i drove straight through.. well, a couple pit stops. 14hrs drive time, 2hrs tear down/pack time, 2hrs unpack/setup. I used these: http://amzn.com/B002DVVC4C (i only paid $8.41 at the time!) for a tank your size... im waiting impatiently how you did it!
  8. When posting to this section, please make sure to include the basic information with your post... how long the system has been setup, any recent "events" which may be causing issues, and at a bare minimum, your water quality readings. Salinity, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate, Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium get you a better understanding of many underlying problems. For example: From this, we can see your Alk is high, and Mg is low, and calcium is on the low end.
  9. if you ever need a tank sitter, i can frag surgically where you dont notice

welp, for $33 every 6mo, im not gonna worry about it too much the bubblecounter dries up pretty quick w/ just ro/di, i put half vegetable glycerin/rodi this time around. this way when the water evaps, theres still something there. I've noticed when my water evaps, it tends to clog.. who knows why, just does. we'll see if adding some VG to the mix helps.

hmm, a.r.m. course? if i use less co2 and lower rate, my levels drop too quickly.

aaand i just ran out of co2.... everyone else get about 6mo out of a 10# tank? time to use the backup tank! anyone in rr/gtown hitting airgas/homebrew this week?
  15. why store waste? wouldnt one tank ro and one tank salt allow for more "on demand" need in an emergency?
  16. dont need no stinkin corals! a plethora of anemone will kill them anyways!
  17. I have to manually tweak the compensation to make it match... the OCD in me.
  18. did you have 2 threads, i know i wrote a blurb about this sometime this week *lol* ..... found it! yesterday... man this week feels like a whole month.
  19. wow tiny! ya got some salt creep there
  20. looks good! if i had to do mine again i'd "sleeve" them... run the pvc through larger PVC. provides that little extra support to avoid sag. Mine go under a staircase, so its not just the other side of the way 4-5" away. Another thing to consider if you end up having to redo them in the future... you want the fittings off the wall enough to be able to stop dripping from running down/back the pipe if you ever disconnect. something as simple as a bead of caulk would stop that,... if you had room. i'd also have used a larger wire chase... mine is pretty maxed out now *lol*
  21. oh man, looking more like ty than his wife w/ that pose. so sorry :\
  22. now? its ongoing... so we have to make room for fresh blood when we see it
