did someone clean you desk w/ something and the overspray got in it? heater fail? -
this area uses chloramines, so you need an extra carbon stage at minimum. I've got a 6 stage (been debating going 9 recently). sediment+granulated carbon+1mic carbon block+RO+DI+DI. I'd like to add a normal "fridge" carbon way up front, replace my 1st Di w/ anion-DI, 2nd di w/ anion-DI, then the 2 original mixed-bed DI. why 2 of each? I "refresh" my Di to save some money. the 1st of each is the recycled stuff, the second in each pair is new stuff... this adds some redundancy if i messed up my recycling process. I currently do it w/ the mixed bed stuff, i'd like to do it w/ anion once i get $$ and time to add 2 more stages.

Only suggestion i'd give is... make sure the reactor you choose uses a common recirc pump, not some inhouse or offbrand. ie. my carx uses an eheim1260, and i can replace it as needed easily. if you calculate the volume correctly, you only need to "refresh" the media every 6 to 12mo. if you go too small, it will "slush" up too quickly and be a maint nightmare. if you go too large, your efluent flow would have to be lowered to the point it is susceptible to clogging. on my 180DT+, I run a "marine life aquatics CR-500" 21" x 4"diameter @ 0.15ml/min. I use a.r.m. coarse w/ neo-mag (9:1 ratio). apex ph settings: If CaRktr > 6.61 Then ON If CaRktr < 6.58 Then OFF If pH < 7.89 Then OFF Defer 005:00 Then ON I have to get my #10 co2 tank refilled about every 6-9mo. (im actually due now!). I have a backup tank (#5) to run on if i cant get it refilled that day (or its a weekend). I use a "Milwaukee MA957 CO2 Regulator," but this isnt the best one out there.

start of day2. i see a little algae, not much to write home about. some detritus at the bottom. hopefully i remember to take daily picts so i can make a progression gif [emoji4] NO3: 30ish (api) PO4(3-): 0.20 (Hanna low) after reading up some more, it appears i might have to overfeed if this thing takes off... so my current daily feeding/dosing: -1 cube of each: mysis, brine, krill -6 drops of garlic -1 tiny spoons (reef chili spoon/chemiclean) of each: reef roids, reef chili -1.25ml of each: kent microvert, kent chromaplex, kent phytoplex, kent strontium & molybdenum, potassium, zoe -2.5ml of each: brightwell zooplantos-L, brightwell zooplanktos-M -2.5ml brightwell koral kolor -7.5ml kent Coral accel (weird measurements, see first post)

80 well maybe 120 Gallon Custom Rimless Shallow Reef
Isaac replied to tminnick's topic in Tank Builds
technically, it was a heat removing machine -
anyone up for a small-ish acrylic build? width=12" height=14" (or 12" if thats whats onhand) inner_depth=6" panel_depth=1" panel_edge=1" two inner walls clear everything else opaque and if anyone guesses whats this for, you get an imaginary cookie

Mine is slightly more complicated. I have a button wired off my breakout box as a feed button. That triggers a 20min off period for the skimmer w/ the defer, then the skimmer has its own 15min off from the defer. the reason I went this route was, i wanted to trigger other things to cause the skimmer to turn off, not just feed. but i wanted feed to have a longer off period too. Since neptune doesnt have the ability to have multiple "if's" in a statement, you end up having a mess w/ virtual outlets like this one.

first chemiclean run on this tank ever...ugh. Post water change... tired of watching the skimmer bucket. setup a 5gal w/ a camera (motioneyeos on raspberry pi3). tossed some mini bioballs in so the camera would focus on the water level. smaller lid (from the normal bucket) has a float valve on it... if yer wondering wth is going on there.

Happy new year! (first 2018 post! hehe)

how about just a screenshot or two to simplify things? the initial/on/off all depend on the size of your tank and location of your powerheads. Ty changes his wave-type by changing the on/off delays. I just change the intensity the "synchronize" offsets the two powerheads so they alternate.

i love watching this come together... but man i just wanna see water in it already!!!
