i do the tests, rinse w/ tap a couple times, top it off w/ di, store it. before use i shake out the DI, put some test water in it to shake it to remove the remainder of the di, empty that, then test. the goal is to have a valid test and not have to waste too much time.

i store my cuvettes w/ ro/di in them... they cant dry out and leave behind scale if they have DI in them

is it a reef light or a fresh water light? i dont see much actinic on it

what kinda light is that?

until ammonia and nitrite are at zero, you have not fully cycled yet. even a trace of ammonia would cause some the probs you are experiencing. do you have a full shot of th tank showing where the powerhead(s) or return pump is coming in? might get a better idea of the flow that way.

if i owned a spa, and had an aquarium service running my tank, it would look this good too. not sure this can count as a hobby tank. my aunt had a tank at home, had a service running it. they constantly swapped fish in and out, coral in and out, it always looked awesome. to me... thats cheating.
