  1. plus, if you fell in you wouldnt be able to get out, being so short n all?
  2. I put a 5min delay on mine, to save the solenoid a little bit: Fallback OFF Set OFF If CaRktr > 6.58 Then ON If CaRktr < 6.55 Then OFF If pH < 7.89 Then OFF If Outlet Leak_A2 = ON Then OFF If Outlet Levels_A5 = ON Then OFF If WtrChg CLOSED Then OFF If RefuLo CLOSED Then OFF If Outlet PwrSvPumps6 = ON Then OFF If Outlet PwrApex_A12 = ON Then OFF Defer 005:00 Then ON My flow rate is about 0.13 liter/min.. i was aiming for 0.10, but it seems to clog faster that way.. I have higher alk issue because of this though (ca/mg are perfect)
  3. super old rio 2600 i think.. ill have to check my build thread and come back to update EDIT: waaaay off: -rio1100 (anaerobic coil + calcium reactor)
  4. i feed my CARX and my sulfer/anaerobic reactors w/ a secondary pump w/ only 1/4" tubing and needle wheel valves (usplastics has them cheaper than BRS, same exact ones). you need the head pressure isolated for accurate constant flow. I have everything else manifolded because they dont need a tight constant like the reactors I have do.
  5. wooooo, all the picts on one page.
  6. why we left some water in there plus, you said you;d go back once the water cleared *lol*
  7. this isnt a "usual" situation... check everything *lol* new sand >new cycle there. new tank/silicon >new cycle there. new plumbing >new cycle there. you lost a TON of your old support sponges and support when the sump got "flushed," so.. nothing "usual" anymore man.
  8. this is the first the union has heard of this... we'll be contacting our people!
  9. he hates bags, HATES them. will chew hole after hole after hole.. and whenever he doesnt chew, he stabs w/ his fin. we gave up at 5 layers and started the cooler-transport-tank because of him..... thats what the fish is.. a menace!
  10. Ty: I got a new house!!! ARC: when are we putting a hole in the wall? Ty's wife: NO! Ty: (guessing with best probability here) *beg* ill do the dished and laundry * beg* Ty's wife: no Ty: *beg* extra diaper duties *beg* Ty's wife: put it right here, and i want a bar and cabinets. Ty: ok, but im telling everyone i wore you down and the bar was my idea Ty's wife: *eyeroll* The move was good ty, great plan. wish that back room was larger for more support tanks and systems. you know how you secretly love redundancy. Plus, now you have room for WATER CHANGING SYSTEM.... no but seriously.. at least clean the sump like yearly? *lol* that large "upper wall?" just some crazy ideas for ya

Solar fairy wrasse down.. RIP. 22-24mo. Water params are w/in their norm for this tank. He was looking pale a couple weeks, but I was out of town on business for two weeks, so pointless to try and QT him once i got back... plus you try catching a fairy wrasse w/o stressing them *lol* As this tank matures and fish grow, it seems ill start losing the more timid ones due to space constraints.... while this sucks, it tells me I'm at the right "stock ratio" fish wise.... if im willing to accept losses due to growth.

After much reading, I'm staying w/ my everclear dosing w/ medical PCA pump. The only "problem" the biopellets "solve" vs liquid carbon dosing are the sudden "spurts" or carbon in the water column, causing water quality issues. I don't have these issues, as I'm dosing small amounts all day long, not once a day. I currently dose .3ml/hr of 10% everclear... so .03ml/hr. vs 0.72ml once a day. I guess i have a standby reactor if i need gfo/carbon real quick in addition to my existing gfo/carbon.

lara has fed my "equipment" addiction... so now i have a new reactor... was debating biopellets. anyone start using these instead of carbon dosing w/ everclear/vodka? the everclear dosing is doing ok for me, but seeking opinions/findings from others
  14. "reefcliff" seems to be all the rage.... why? just use liverock and make a cliff, and then you have a mini-intank fuge too. I dont think i get this craze... at all.
  15. (i think my blog might turn into a reference section more than a blog.. go w/ it) On this trhead, a really good question came up: This got me thinking about it a bit more. Over the years I've found the below "equation" to work pretty good for me: 1" of livestock (fish, coral, inverts, anything living) per 1gal actual system water. There are special situations where the 1" is too small (aggressive fish, or fish that need more space.. just add an inch or two. Also, you should calculate on known max size of your livestock, not current). coraline counts too! (i add it all up and divide by 2). This also assumes the old addage lbs liverock/sand to working gals. I know I know, too "engineer-ish," but think about it... 230 system gals. add up all your coral (yes, gsp counts), then add up your fish, shrimp, snails, crabs. In "skimmer land" : 115"(50%) to 188"(75%),this is a "light load." 188"(75%) - 230"(100%) this is average 230"(100%) - 375"(150%) this is average-high range 375"+(150%) heavy load. This also gives you a calculated "capacity" percentage, if you need it. obviously... i'll update this as time goes on and w/ some feedback!
