skimmer neck cleaner update.... inside... top... on skimmer... clearance... I think the NEMA17 motor might be underpowered, and the power brick i used might be underpowered. so we'll see if it moves much in the next couple hrs.
  6. you already had that... did you re-gift it to yourself? weirdo.

....havnt had time for the cleaner yet.. boooo! I finally upgraded my phone, note8... what settings, assuming you are using advanced settings, are you guys using for picts?
  9. i do the tests, rinse w/ tap a couple times, top it off w/ di, store it. before use i shake out the DI, put some test water in it to shake it to remove the remainder of the di, empty that, then test. the goal is to have a valid test and not have to waste too much time.
  10. i store my cuvettes w/ ro/di in them... they cant dry out and leave behind scale if they have DI in them
  11. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2467380 for us 3d printer owning folks
  12. well, he DOES have a backroom for supporting that. lets do it!
  13. i dunno, its missing something.... a beer on the counter maybe?
  14. if you want a proper waterproofing... use shower liner: https://thd.co/2gBxuqG
  15. holy cow, how did i miss this thread? *lol* Network Security Engineer @ AT&T Business Solutions (who bought my group from DXC, which was a merger of HPE/CSC, after HPE and HP split..... fun huh?) I wear like 8 hats at work though, im not just a firewall dude
  16. i stopped using socks in the "main" flow points. i only use a sock coming out of the skimmer now (to catch big chunks after a cleaning). the drain from DT to sump, i've been using a koi filter. this filters out the "big" stuff and slime. everything else goes into the sump, which then hits the skimmer and through another opencell sponge to the return pump. I'm getting more air exchange this way.... i do have to vacuum the "dirty" side of the sump more often though. also, if a snail or fish decides to take a ride on the drain-slide... they dont die in a sock.
  17. i supply my fuge from the return.. not a fan of DT's detritus in the fuge. fuge's drain goes to same chamber as pump, bypassing skimmer.
  18. You're not allowed over anymore. I see that they have just been opportunities to scout out dibs on things in the tank. Sneaky sneaky moderator! darnit, you noticed. you home tomorrow?
  19. dibs on that gold torch when you get sick of softies again!
  20. "lowering nitrates" part. i think they like cleaner water... essentially. in my case anyways.
  21. are you skimming any wetter than normal? Mine went away on my biocube w/ more bioload, peroxide, more feeding, and wet skimmer. seems like you are doing the opposite *lol*

the skimmer cleaner project got a JOLT (*cough*) of energy yesterday (thank you @FarmerTy). I now have a dead vertex skimmer head, which im gonna take the arm from! ordered: gears! http://amzn.to/2fdkcwj belt! http://amzn.to/2felt6e The skimmer top will have the larger gear, which is attached to the arm. the motor above will be mounted to the side (i need to 3dprint the mount). This design shoooould work, and the added bonus of not having the design flaw of moisture getting in the motor and ruining it (just silly vertex, so silly)
