  1. If you were doing work instead of standing around in the shop that wouldn't happen. Nice build Stephen, I need to make it out there sometime soon.
  2. Won an AquaSD Auction. Seeing if he will combine shipping with a GB. Anyone interested if he will?

See if you can get me some GSP.

  3. I think my Conch is eating Zoas. Is that even possible?

Oh no, not the lunars! Maybe he smells my fighting conchs on them and is trying to mate with them! Just pick up the frag and put it on a rock. Last I heard those babies can't climb.

Not your lunars. They are fine, another set I got the same day. :(

You trying to mate lunars from different colonies? Haha

  4. Trying to film mama clown laying eggs, but she wont do it when I'm near the glass.

  5. They are cheap panels I've found online, I'll post more info on them after the meeting. Mine doesn't have dimming capabilities, but you can get dimmable drivers for them. I really just rigged this up with parts I was going to use for something else, just to bring something different to the meeting. If I was planning on actually using this setup I would do it a little differently. PICS - 28G NanoCube- 150W MH HQI - 14k Bulb Ghettoblaster 50W LED Canon - 30w 20k white 20w 454nm Actinic.
  6. Ouch... $200? I thought we were reefing on a budget here with the DIY. Here is my ghetto cannon - 50W Total - 3 x10W 20k White, and 1 x20w Acitnic Blue, Pieced together with a driver on an old CPU heatsink. My cost about $60 with the parts I had laying around, probably $90 if you bought a new fan/heatsink combo. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/51/img9389y.jpg http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5471/img9390w.jpg I'll be bringing it to the meeting as well.
  7. Looks similar to maybe cotton candy algae, but darker red rather than pink.
  8. Ive got a few used MH bulbs, and a brand new 'Power Aquarium' 150w 14k bulb I bought off eBay which is probably closer to a 10k. It was supposed to be PlusRite, but they sent a different brand. They work fine, I have one on my cube right now. $10 for the new one, I'll just give you a used one if you want.
  9. I had nasty slimy dinos in my 28gal for a while. Covered everything, killing snails, slimy, bubbly, etc. I tried less feedings, less light, more water changes, hardcore GFO/Carbon, eventually I just quit messing with it and they went away. I still ran the gfo/carbon, but just kinda left the tank and they eventually dissipated.
  10. I love Coral RX. And you know a coral is fresh from the ocean when you dip it and see bugs you can't identify die off.

That stuff is AWESOME! I use it all the time for my corals, when I bought corals. . .

  11. GONE! Thanks Scutter/Jerbob. While the back of my tank now looks boring and plain, I can start putting in a whole new set of liverock to fill with colorfull frags.
  12. Updated FTS shot. One of my T5 ballasts went out a month ago (Tank had 6 x 54w T5 + VHO Actinics). I was planning on building a new hood and stripping the guts from a dual 250w MH coralife fixture and making it MH + Actinic LEDs, but didn't have the time. So this is just the stock Coralife Fixture with dual 250w MH and PC actinics/10k supplemental bulbs. Been over a month and everything is doing fine. You would think going from 324W of T5 with no reflectors to 500W MH + PC supplementals something would bleach.
  13. came....looked.... was disappointed... left
  14. I've done it several times at RCA. Just get there in the evenings on delivery day and take your pick.
  15. Sweet tea is an abomination before the lord. It should be illegal.
  16. I assume this is the smaller of the tanks, by the skimmer on the left hiding in the FTS pic.
  17. Large portion gone, have about 8" x 10" left. 25$ takes it.
  18. That sucks. Just shoot John an e-mail. He's usually pretty good about replacing/refunding.
  19. I have a rock urchin that lived in my first saltwater 10gal tank for 4 years, and now lives in his upgraded 28gal cube. I've never fed him anything in particular. I assume he eats coraline off the rocks and detritus? I've tried pencil urchins more than once in my 55gal that would die after just a couple months, so I don't know why the rock urchin has lived so long with nothing special.
  20. I know RCA has a pretty decent sized one thats been there over a week. He's pig and eats any food they put in the tank.
  21. ^^ Agreed. While the main problem will be getting your phosphates and other levels in check to finally rid yourself of the GHA, I love me some sea-hares. I had GHA in my 55gal a year or so ago and bought a sea-hare who cleared up the problem in less than a week. Traded him on. Recently I had a similar issue in my 29, got another sea-hare, cleaned it up in less than a week. I was in the process of trading her when she croaked for some reason. She had run out of GHA to eat, but I was feeding her nori by hand every night, so I'm not sure what went on there. Cyano..... chemiclean. I had a weird brown/green cyano in my 55 that nothing would get rid of. Not darkness, not wet skimming/gfo/carbon, not frequent water changes.. nothing. It was killing my corals daily. I could siphon it off in the morning and come home to have it claim another candycane head in a single day. I finally broke down and tried chemiclean and it cleared the tank in one dose. Been 3 months now and I haven't seen a single bit come back.
  22. Nice seeing everyone again, and meeting quite a few new people. It was great to finally meet you Patrick. Thanks for your very generous Macro algae and pods. Your cevice was awesome. I am really looking forward to the crawfish boil. Thanks to Dave & Robin for hosting as well.
  23. Thanks TY. Opening up perfect this morning. My first attempt with a plate coral, so we'll see how it goes.
