  1. Ian's hypothesis could be entirely valid! I think it's most likely your high phosphate is either what Ian said about the rocks, or uneaten food. I would add that a lot of times NEW rock can leach phosphates for quite some time depending on the type of rock it is. You ought to be able to figure out the source of the phosphates using a little experimentation and sleuthing.
  2. I use 2 teaspoons of gfo for 80 gallons to lower 0.02 in 12 hours
  3. I think your sps may have been starving from what you are saying. The phosphates with the fuge offline could be high simply from over feeding? I would consider taking the Fuge offline. If it were me I’d do that and watch nitrate and phosphate like a hawk. If too high phosphate I would lightly start gfo and check every six hours until I figured out how much to use and/or hit the level I want (for me about 0.08). My long term goal would be to try to control only by bioload and feeding using dosing and gfo as emergency backups. I’m sure there are other ways to tackle this, but that is what I do
  4. Well, all your parameters are similar to mine. Did you let the nitrate get low before you dosed it back up? Do you think the softies may be doing chemical warfare?
  5. Hah, I suppose one year later I should do a little update, right? Yes, I do still have the northern crush, but I have not taken a picture of it in a while. Got a few frags of it laying around too ... Here's a picture of it from last summer. Looks the same but bigger now, even though I fragged it a bunch of times and also fragged a large chunk into my display tank. 6. The list looks awesome. Did you have any trouble getting Planet to drill for the modular marine overflow?
  7. That's pretty scary! 😲
  8. This is something for @mFrame to investigate
  9. I have G3 and when the G4 came out I did not upgrade because I didn't think it was worth it. I might consider the G5 though since I've run the G3 for three years now (looks like replies are working at least for me)
  10. I'm no help. I'm not a fan of either socks or sponges because I hate cleaning them
  11. I had not noticed the in-wall speaker until this picture. Nice
  12. Aquascape looks nice. I like the anemone island!
  13. I've read about the aquabiomics but have not tried it. It's an interesting concept but I'm not sure what I would do with the results. Say it comes back lacking biodiversity, then what?
  14. I don't trust the badges any more myself
  15. I wonder if you had an ammonia spike? I see you have a hang on filter, but how did you get a bacteria population established? I keep sponges in my HOB filter and seed them with Dr. Tim's. I also keep some marine pure balls in the QT to allow bacteria to grow. The other thing that helps a lot in a QT is to run an airstone
  16. I have both a Reef Savvy and a Planet Aquarium. Both are high quality. The Reef Savvy wait time is ridiculous, I waited 18 months. The planet wait time was much better. They can do a matching steel stand which then gives a really good warranty to the combo I believe. My only issue with planet is their overflow hardware is not great. So I put a Reef Savvy ghost overflow on my planet tank. It's an awesome combo! I really like my elite aquatics sumps too: https://www.facebook.com/Elite-Aquatics-241732935839455/
  17. I had a great experience buying a Planet Aquarium from Gary at Aquadome. Planet has some ready made configurations that can save you money versus a custom: https://www.planetaquariums.com/crystaline

That's amazing, I had no idea they could be kept that long!
  19. I see, the acans and the blastos get no love. Apparently you are a stick head (like me)!
