  1. I was reading various replies to this same question yesterday on a national forum. A few folks said that substrate and rocks can absorb PO4 to a certain degree, especially in newer systems. The other thing mentioned is that heavy skimming can remove phosphate via skimming out bacteria that are consuming the PO4. And I scanned back a little but did not see this: are you running a fuge with any kind of algae? That can also be consuming PO4.
  2. I'm really sad that nobody noticed I was just rehashing what was said in this thread years ago when I replied today
  3. Do you use GFO? GFO is an iron-based product, but honestly I am not even remotely an expert
  4. I heard it was from high Iron in your water
  5. Ah yes, I’ve read those are very similar
  6. Is that Arc fireworks in the middle?
  7. Definitely a melanurus will tackle them. In my experience the ones in your picture can show up in great numbers seemingly overnight but with time their numbers will steadily diminish.
  8. @eddius-maximus I assume the Trident will also graph those three parameters for you in Fusion?
  9. At this point I would probably do a Triton test just to see if something pops up. I skimmed back through the thread and I see you used two methods to check your alk, so its probably pretty close to what you think it is (which was 8.4 or so on the tank, and 6 or so on the fresh mix). That seems like a really safe number to me, it's what I strive for. I am hoping with time, monitoring, and water changes it will resolve itself, but it may never be explainable. I can give you more tester frags whenever you need them. And when you feel things are stable we can work on replacing various ones you got from me.
  10. Wow - nice scores! We were there too and I got some nice pieces for my collection. Had a great time
  11. Your color looks pretty good to me. I use KZ Pohl's Xtra, KZ Amino LPS, and KZ coral vitalizer to promote color. Who can say if it actually works though ...
  12. @Jaime Padron I do still have it. It is rated as follows: 130 Gallon - Light Filtration Demand 90 Gallon – Medium Filtration Demand 60 Gallon – Heavy Filtration Demand
  13. It should be a good time, I'm excited to go
  14. I will measure it tonight when I get home. Thanks
  15. Sorry to hear, but like you say, it was a good run!
  16. My guess is some kind of sponge
  17. Nice pieces! Could that CC one be their Frostbite Horrida?
  18. Sorry Eddius, as you say it seems like it will be a mystery exactly what happened. I agree with Tim, that a weakened coral will fail at any time if one little thing puts it over the edge. We can't say how long you were at either high or low nutrients, so trying to theorize is just a crap shoot. At this point I would go with water changes and testing/adjusting as needed until things get better.
  19. You could be right Sascha. I don't claim to be an expert, but I feel we can't be certain until we see some test results. If I understand correctly, Eddie added Marine pure, saw a huge decrease in algae growth, and then acros started RTN.
  20. weeks - I would test the nitrate and phosphate and dose up as needed. especially the nitrate I can give you a nitrate test kit and also some nitrate dosing solution. you should target 5ppm
  21. Based on all the evidence you've shared I still feel the acros are starving
  22. What are your nitrate and phosphate reading right now and how have they been trending? If they have dropped too low you could try adding some amino acids, and or dosing some nitrate sometimes this can reverse it but it sounds like its happening really fast. If you don't have any I can help you
  23. That's a good find! Do you think the carbon will remove it? I wonder if something like chemipure would help too?
