and if you use a pvc pipe as a slide to get it to the bottom of the tank you willnot get as much sand storm as if you just dump it in I would say dump about 1/3 the amount you want in there at a time a week or so apart.

If you email rapid with your tank size and what you plan to grow they will give you a good answer to the number of led's you need. As far as dimmable thats a definate yes at least in my book. I am not happy with the dimmer control that rapid sells so I would recomend looking elsewhere. I like the looks of the controller ledgroupbuy.com sells and will probly get 1 to try it soon and then a second one for my other tank if I like it. My second tank is controlled by the reefkeeper lite alc modual and that sucks worse than the rapid one lol. If you have a RK computer do not waste the cash on there led controler at least not for DIY fixtures. Optics kind of depend how high off the water you want your led's in some cases you would need the light like 12-20 inches above the water line to stop the spotlight effect produced my optics. My lights are all close to the water line sub 5" so I do not run optics and have not had any problems burning coral.

I always thought it was bad to use a float valve to control your ro/di.Because the first bit of water out is not the cleanest ? So your better off letting the tank get low then let the RO/DI run constatly till its full again. Or I could just be imagining things again BTW the place in Burnet that sold those no longer does water storage tanks we sold the line and only do custom stuff now. But if you need a custom built plastic tank I have connections. Its now called Freeman engenereed products. Plastic-mart dot com will be relocating to Austin in the next month or so. I hear they will have some tanks on site for walk in sales but not really sure what kinds sizes.

After doing 2 DIY led fixtures If I had it to do over again I would pony up the extra cost and get a brand name fixture. Its not that its hard or even that time consuming. I consider myself a decent DIY guy but not strong in electric stuff and to me the cost differance compared to a manufacturers warentee I know what one I would pick after looking at what it took to get done. And I did not even have very much in the way of problems. Other than a few solders looking good but finding out they were not making a connection.

Thanks Dena its all hooked up in my exra bathtub looks to be working like new. at least with fresh water and vinager. I am glad its going in the garage with my sump with those 3 pumps running its a bit loud.

If you have not done this in the past its a GREAT time to even just buy a cheep something to get on there prefered list then you save year round with all your orders.

my guess is unless the tank is over stocked for its size or you have special needs fish 9 days would probly be fine but its getting close to the end of the safe point. mabey get an auto feeder ? I have never used one so cant comment.

I have had good luck with them and have ordered about 8 times. When there were problems they were more than happy to help resolve them <usualy store credit>.

also if the fish is swimming up to it then away its because its not comfortable with that new thing in the tank. Leave the bottle in there with no food in it or no food in the tank for a day or 2 then place food only in the bottle for the next few days. You may also want to just leave the bottle in there for a week while normaly feeding then try not feeding with only food in the trap depending on how fast you need to get it . the ez way to get the food in the trap is to put a small hole in it just big enough to get a turkey baster in and then blast a small amount of myst in there.

You need more than 1 they win the fight by out reproducing the aptasia the more you start with the faster they win. I added 10 to my 100 gal display and 4-5 months latter was hard pressed to find any aptasia in the display. I litteraly had multiple hundreds of them in there. I have yet to see any of the nudi's after adding them so they must still be munching on something.

If they are in your overflows and sump they will be in your display too. For the overflows I usualy just take out the durso pipes and leave them dry for a week and any snots stuck to the bottom are hit with the laser. I used to use aptaisa X but it seems to be like food to them now. As far as the sump I have taken it all apart and scrubbed everything with vinegar/water. I even had them in my skimmer lol. I will not say they are eradicated yet but I have not seen any in at least a week after adding the nudis several months ago. I also kept 20 peperment shrimp in my refuge altho when I cleaned it I could only find 5 and there are no preditors in there.

for the coloration on those thats a killer price. Most are kind of a washed out cream yellow.
