  1. Picked up the stuff that Jolt was nice enough to hold for me while my tank was getting ready. everything is doing pretty good with exception to the acans still be a little pissy due to travel and what not. The Goblin picture does not do it justice, the color is amazing in the tank as well as all the rest. anyway here are pics!
  2. Has the dos been spoken for? I need another one.
  3. I have used a similar type set up on my very first tank, it was a 55g strech hex. I was great when I didn't know any better. I was just excited to have my first saltwater tank. My advice if you are set and love the hobby, get what you want now. A hob overflow system is not very sustainable for long term use. If it we're me and you want to use the 90 see if it's glass and drill it. Or best 90gal I ever had was the dsa neo 90 I wish I would have never upgraded from that tank way back when, but the emergence on starphire glass was the next best thing so I bit in. But tanks are a ton cheaper from 10 yrs ago and there are so many veriations to choose from. Just make sure you get what you really want and are going to be happy with 6 months from now. Don't put all that work into a nice stand and then want a better system down the road.
  4. Yep that would look awesome in my little 20gal lol
  5. I know that I want to wire up a LED light strip inside the cabinet and and display all the systems for that I will use the black acrylic and mount the controller all the apex components on the back 1/4 of the stand with the power bricks and wireing on the back side . Under the shelf ato and 2 part reservoirs will go there and be out of the way from everything else.
  6. I need some ideas as to what to skin this stand with, part of me wants to use black acrylic and leave the extrusion exposed, but im on the fence. I was thinking maybe magnitising something to the sides and from and make it all flat. Thoughts?
  7. Iodine dip or luglos, for the acans, did they turn brown and slimmy? Could be brown jelly. I saved a colony before with the iodine treatment, and hand feeding it rods. Might be worth a try.
  8. Couple more pics I took this morning. I just have the 2 pieces of coral so not much to shoot. Lol
  9. So tempting. I was torn b/t the radion g4 and this light.
  10. Note: I'm pretty impressed with the note 8s underwater picture taking. I didn't even have to get out the dslr to get a decent pic.
  11. I had to do some more work to the extrusion stand before I felt like i wouldn't put the tank on the floor, so I ordered some more gussests braced the stand a little better. Now it's finally ready for the move. I picked up my first corals today from Juiceman, accimated them, the hammer is still a little closed up, but the sps seems to be doing good. I'll move the tank when I get some help I don't want to try and move it myself for fear I'll break it. So might as well wait a couple.more days.
  12. Looks pretty happy already. Nice frag and great colors. Appreciate everything.
  13. Ill take the Pink lemonade colony! lol.. don't think it would fit in my 20gal lol. Ill take the 9 heads of hammer, and the largest strawberry lemonade
  14. Yeah, I like it clean too. With just a couple fish and the color sticks it should stay pretty clean I hope. Lol
  15. Quick update with pics, everything has really mellowed out pretty quickly. I had a small diatoms bloom I cranked the vortechs up did a 50% water change skimmed wet and they were gone in a coupe days. The rock is coloring up a bit, I see small specks of Coraline, all levels are back to untraceable by my current test kits, doh is stable, calcium and mag are in order. As my gf says "the baby shark" or chromis has done really well, colored up very pretty and eats like a piggy. I still skim pretty wet for the time being just to be on the safe side, I'll dial it back soon after I move to the new stand and install the Apex and the rest of the equipment.
  16. From what my customer told me at Western Extrusions, the 20 and 30 series and the double and the 20X40 and especially the 30mm x 60mm can hold upwards of 2500- 3500lbs braced correctly. I'm really impressed by this, i was testing this stand i made and put a 55gal brute trashcan on it, filled to the top, a little shaky, but i still need a couple corner gussets in the corners at the bottom and it will stiffen it up . so just under 500lbs, pretty impressive from 1in x 1in aluminum.
  17. It wasn't to bad, the shipping was really not great, but maybe 150 bucks for this size, please note that I didn't really know what I was doing and it was trial and error, knowing what I know now, I could have gotten it done for around 100. Mind you I ordered everything to size so there was a premium for the individual cuts vs bulk ordering.
  18. Hands down one of the best atos that's a really good deal. I bought mine for 155 open box.
  19. Thanks me too, it's super light. I've decided to not move the tank on it quite yet, I'm going to tear it all apart and insert 1/4 inch stained wood paneling of some sort into the extrusions for sides and leave the frame exposed. It has come to my attention that one of my chemical customers we deliver hydrochloric acid and caustic soda in bulk to makes extrusion. Corse now I find this out, they told me I can have whatever I want or need in the future. I dunno why it didnt Dawn on me the name is Western Extrusions in fort worth. Duh! Sometime you can't see the Forrest through the trees.
  20. Quick update, I built the stand tonight. It's easy work but there are a ton of adjustments to make after it's built. Anyway here's a pic.
