  1. They know better! I don't see ant runs in the chips from what I can tell. I sent the pics to.my glass guy and he asked how thick the front panel was. Said its not great, specially low iron glass (which I assume it was and told him it was) said better on the outside than on the inside. When they fix thicker window chips they have a device that does the work really. Pumps the resin in and cures it right away. But there isn't the same weight on regular 1/2-1" thick glass windows. He wouldn't trust it long term for sure. But.. he said the pane could be replaced and fixed pretty easily. But most won't warranty the rest of the tank but will the front pane. Might be less to fix then replace.
  2. I worked on the rock a little today. im not 100% sold on it yet, but i tried to use some of the Nyos reef cement, wow epic fail! that stuff was horrible to work with, i couldnt get it to stick at all. so i will figure out a better way to stick rocks together. Anyway a couple pics.
  3. Oh man that's bad news.. you can try to have it filled with resin and polished out, but man thats a real iffy situation. thats a big tank and a ton of weight on that front pane.
  4. On a good note, i did buy the Kessil H380 today and the mount for the fuge today.
  5. Im just going to rebuild the manifold, i have some 1x1x3/4 Ts coming in with 3 more 3/4" gate valves for the reactors being dropped off on Monday, that will free up the space i need to put them in line, it will give me the height i need, so its not the end of the world. Its either rebuild the manifold or send the reactors back. the plumbing will prob cost as much as sending the reactors back.
  6. Just got the Mecoral reactors.. big big problem, they are to long and wont fit in the sump area unless i do some seriously unique plumbing making things look jammed inside the sump, which im not willing to being the work ive put into it.
  7. Nice, I think I'm initially going that route. It's clean and easy to remove to clean the fuge if need be. Speaking if the fuge.. got the new baffle installed yesterday picked up the glass locally for around 18.00 for 1/4in piece. Think it came out pretty good.
  8. Im actually leaning towards the Marinepure plates as well, with some smaller rock from the older tank.
  9. Congrats on the new setup cant wait to see it come alive, TBH the setup is possibly my favorite part due to you really have to give a ton of thought what you want, and what you want to accomplish in the future with a new build. following along.
  10. Can you back it up and reset it to factory and just program a couple things and see if it is the hardware or possibly the programming that is causing the issues? i know it sounds like a PITA but a little time might be worth possible upgrade or replacement components right off the bat. I remember the network issue bug i went thought that with the power line adapter after the second or third update to the classic. I ended up using an old wireless netgear router in bridge mode and connected it vs the powerline issue was fixed.
  11. Ive seen those products and done some research on it. Ive hear the issues with the marinepure as well, I have heard the issues with the marinepure have been fixed but who knows. ill have to do some more research, and see the benefits. I can always go with more LR
  12. Does anyone have any thought on base material for the sump? marine pure or other types of ceramic media? or are there any other options i should be thinking about?
  13. this is a super good skimmer, very good price. It killed the Tunze on my nano build as far as performance.
  14. The Mecoral reactors should be here Friday, i ordered them with the hard plumb tops so i will have to plumb those in, really i ordered 2 media reactors and the biopellet reactor, but they seem like a pretty easy job its just 1/2 slip fittings and the return down into the sump. Im not sure that i will really need them, but they are probably good to have anyway just in case. i can always add them if i need them.
  15. Plumbing complete and pressure tested, just need to hook the pump up and it will be good to go.
  16. Ok, so the sump had surgery, got a little lighter whatever the case. here are the pic. I left the bracing 1. because if i want to put it back i have all the pieces, 2. because i felt lazy and it would have been awful difficult to remove the braces from the tank without the risk of cracking the glass. Its all ready for a new baffle.
  17. That's a very good option, i just looking at the sump, it wouldn't be that much trouble to cut the silicone out of the overflow section and filter sock section and start from scratch on that end, my glass guy says hes got 1/2 glass close to that size he can cut and would just give it to me. the notches to keep the algae in would be an issue, but he might be able to get it if he takes his time. i could just split that section and install the baffle he cuts for me and be done with it. i really like the glass vs the acrylic. Ill do some research on the ATI essentials that could be a viable option, I have read about the supply issues in the past of the Triton products. I haven't had great success with 2 part in the past.
  18. So thinking more on the Triton Method, this seems like a great option for ULM which is really what id like to have. I honestly hate doing water changes and the maintenance associated with the water changes. Im really heavily leaning towards this the more i research, specially on a new build where things dont have to be converted over and changed later to go to this method. As i research i notice the BIG issue, my sump cant really handle this method without major surgery to modify the sump. anyone have any thoughs on the Triton method? goods bads, personal feelings in general towards this system? i was looking at this this morning
  19. awesome! that's what i was hoping to hear.
  20. Not sure yet, researching it to try to see if its ports or security or the multi channel aspects of the router. but there are several of the nighthawk routers that dont work for some reason. My router isnt listed but this list isnt very up to date. the X6S (R800P) came out in 2016 i believe.
  21. I want to use the AI prime HD that i have from the initial waterbox build that i later well about 2 days later upgraded to the Radion gen 4 pro. upon researching these seem to be about as close to a fuge settings for max growth as i can get. any thoughts? the only bad thing is because i run the netgear nighthawk pro X10 AD7200 i cannot connect it to the apex via IOTA =\, so im left with the AI app. maybe not a huge deal being as im going to use it for the fuge
  22. I wanted a gate valve initially, but i just an really lacking in room, and a little worried about the head pressure on the pump to adjust the plumping to make once fit and messing with the turnover. but really im not expecting to much turnover, with all the flow that is going into the tank if i can get 3-5 times per hour i think ill be happy. I did install a union though, i pressured everything up to 75psi last night no leaks until i installed the manifold and it leaked very badly around the plumbing that connects to the stock red sea return on the top of the tank, i didn't expect it to hold 75lbs but maintained pressure at 35lbs and lower so i think its good, I did almost kill the dog with flying locline oops! forgot to cap the top on the first try, she ate the parts last night so i guess she got the last laugh. i had already ordered complete replacements of all the plumbing connections from red sea. ill move on to the overflow plumbing and the emergency plumbing today, hopefully ill have it all buttoned up by tomorrow and leak test the tanks, then get water in it. i still need to setup a mixing station, i was thinking of stealing water from the tankless water heater in the garage and setting up a mixing station in the garage if i can keep it tight to the wall the tanks are only 42" around the bottom it should workout ok, as long as the vehicles will still fit in the garage. the area is only about 20ft from that area so it would be a pretty short run for the barracuda to handle that i bought for the mixing station. im going to get the tanks this weekend.
