  1. What a gorgeous fish. I think you'd need a large tank for those, right?
  2. I'm still tallying votes of whether we want Mr. SaltwaterTank there in bicycling outfit or not...
  3. It's probably about time to have another salt group buy. Any of our LFS sponsors want to run one?
  4. I keep hearing this about Chromis, but I've had my group of 3 in my 90g for over two years now and they get along fine. Am I just lucky?
  5. Thanks for the offers to host guys. We'll be looking to setup a meeting schedule for '12 and will definitely keep you in mind. Keep watch here in the new year for more meeting news.
  6. I heartily agree with everyone in thanking Andrew for all the work he has done to establish this site and a place in Austin where like-minded reefers of a different kind can gather. I'm hoping to take all the good things here and build on them. I'll be having discussions with the moderators and members to talk about what we can do to make this THE goto place in central Texas for reef advice and discussions. If you have an idea or opinion on how you think something should be done then drop me a PM and let me know what you're thinking. Look for renewed commitments to meetings, frag swaps, user and sponsor participation as well as a few new wrinkles that I have up my sleeves. The store will be opening back up in January for memberships and ARC products. More announcements to be made in the new year, but I look forward to having you all along for the ride!
  7. Happy Holidays everyone!

They are perfect for a pico tank if you have sufficient light.

    GBTA

No, they're definitely GBTAs. He got the originals from me and for some reason the darn things just split and stay tiny, the largest from that line I've had got to be about 3" diameter. This is in the same tank that my rbta's grow to 1-2' in diameter.
  10. Awesome. Very lucky you didn't get police there though, they don't have much of a sense of humor even when fake guns are involved. You might want to get a few cheap sawhorses and signs that say, "Filming in progress" to put around your shoot area for the future.
  11. Cool! It's awesome seeing things not just survive, but grow. That's what makes this hobby cool!
  12. Awesome, gorgeous aren't they?! Make sure to keep your powerheads covered until it settles in a spot.

    GBTA

Yeah, for that size I'd think $10-15 would be more in line. The fact that they're captive and reproducing frequently could help. The local stores are selling some really bright electric greens for $29-39 about 3x that size.
  14. I was ok with what you said until you mentioned his size. Any hermit over 1" is probably going to be a problem. Keep an eye on him and move him to your sump if you see him messing with stuff.
  15. Are they fading, or bleaching? What lights were you running previously? The stock biocube 29 lights are very weak, so my guess is that you're scorching the corals. Whenever you do a light change/upgrade, especially when increasing the lighting as the LEDs would on a biocube, you need to slowly acclimate the corals to the new light source.
  16. If you bring it home, take a clean empty 2 liter bottle and punch tons of small holes in it (small enough that the shrimp can't get out). Put the shrimp in it and put it in your 29. You'll be able to target feed him, he'll be protected from your other fish, and he'll get fresh water. When you're ready to get him out just cut the top off of the bottle rather than trying to "pour" him out, that way he won't get damaged. My pico is running at work and I just have my IT guy feed it every few days and top off the water. I buy him lunch when I get back...
  17. Most of the grocery store/walmart water dispensers are only RO as well, not DI. Stick to your local fish store, all of them are a great source of RO/DI if you don't have your own unit.
  18. Out for now, but I'll have more soon.
  19. Something like this would work great if you don't mind taking the stock cover off: http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/19612-blueline-aurora-24-150w-mht5holed/page__fromsearch__1

    RBTAs

I've got two very large rbta's that occasionally throw clones. Over two years I've gotten 3 clones. I target feed about once a month, and have noticed that when i target feed more that I'm more likely to get a clone. I have gotten to where I don't encourage splitting because a 20" rbta is darn cool to have in the tank (next to a 12" clone it threw originally). Mine are definitely not splitting due to stress when they do split. And my clowns LOVE having a choice of BTA's to bed down in at night.

Wish I'd seen this last night, just ordered one of of ebay. What's the brand of yours, and what's the price?
  22. I'll be running around on saturday, but will leave a cooler on the front porch with frags. If you want one, PM me and I'll label the bags. Please only take the bag with your name on it. As always, feel free to bring any small corals, polyps, etc in trade if you wish, but those are not required.
