  1. Kim, Tim told me that you did it with your bare hands. Even if the tank is not up and running, let us consider MUSTER. What a way to initiate the new house. Laissez la bonne temps roulee, Patrick PS. On a side note. Our VIP TOUR of UT Marine Bioscience Department is on. We moved it to the week after Easter to get both department heads involved. Jerry says no problem with your infant.
  2. Hide eggcrate in frag propagation tank. I place 3/4" PVC pipe as spacer on top of 1" aroggonite substrate. This makes for a stand alone frag tank. Patrick
  3. I love the explosive color of the Yellow Tang. I find them peaceable in solitaire are in schools of five and larger. Very impressive tank.

    Week 8

I like the color of your lights. Very natural looking. The reds and green of the macro are a nice contrast. Patick
  5. 75G Jaubert Plenum at 11 years: reduced light
  6. 55G Rock Lagoon with morning sun thru east window.
  7. Amen. A good rule of thumb for me is "Mean what you say and say what you mean". Keep the peace, Patrick

  10. Between 1966 and 1972 I was a mechanic in the Air Force on muti-engine reciprocating aircraft. Looking for adventure, I voluntered to work in close support in Vietnam for ground operations using antiquated aircraft from world war two. Puff the Magic Dragon was outfitted from Douglass DC6 and DC7 which was the workhouse of air transport during WWII. After four 90 day combat tours in Vietnam, I got all the excitement that I need for the rest of my life. After returning home, I entered the Texas Maritime Academy and gradulated *** lada with a BS in Marine Engineering. For thirty five years, I worked as a deepwater subsea engineer in offshore drilling. For two years during those 35 years, I worked in the municipal waste water treatment industry. At this time, I am deciding how I am going to make money growing seaweed. Patrick Drew, you have started a very interesting thread.
  11. We may need to talk about a water retention project on my wet weather stream bed. Come out and visit sometime. Patrick

    Nice looking crawfish.
  15. You have placed a lot of trust in the pet store that helped you to set up your tank. Did they suggest anything to read or study? Do you have any kind of maintenance contract for maintaining this 75G tank? Do you want to know about how this thing works? If so, there are knowledgeable people at this site that can help you. However, you will need to learn a little about termiology. The "tall thingy" in the bottom tank is more than likely a protein skimmer or foam fractionator. It is a mechanical method to remove nutriants from the water. It relies on surface tension of the bubble of air attracting molecules of nutriants, thus "Protein Skimmer". I hope that you have a method of taking pictures to assist those of us that are so qualified. Are as a manager once related to me, "Help me help you". Patrick PS Welcome to the addiction. Hang on for the ride of your life.
  16. I just, this year, starting using the reference link that you posted. Very hands on type of reference geared toward the hobiest. Good link. I have several red macros that I can not, with certainty, identify. Often, depending on growing conditions, macros will look differently. The reason I like uncured live rock is to be surprised with the next chapter. Patrick
  17. Too much light. You burnt them. If your DIY is not dimable, then increase vertical of light source.

who burnt what with what brand?

  18. What is the location of your gig?
  19. Jake / Dave With respect to photography, cane I get a suggestion as to which camera I need to buy. I am almost as dumb as a brick about producing pictures. I would like a KISS (keep it simple, stupid) camera. Something we might call bullet proof or fool proof. I am going to buy a sponsorship for Castille Coral Ranch and I want to start posting seaweed maraculture pictures. Patrick
  20. Dave, I begin reading your 150G tank build post. I am envious of the way that Robin has embraced reef keeping with you. My wife of 38 years tolerated my hobby. It means so much more when you are not the only kid in the house. Patrick PS It seems as if the natives want to go X-rated on you with the Jacuzi. Remember, only you can prevent forest fires.
  21. Count me in, I'll bring boudain and seaweed. Maybe some cheviche. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceviche It did me good to read in Wikipedia the different spellings. Since I am such a bad speller, I now fell "boni fide". Patrick
