  1. Tim, I am a big fan of diverse nutriant pathways. You have put the crowning touch on my thoughts with these clams that reproduced in your closed system. Jolly good show. La bonne temp roulee. Patrick
  2. I am not in a rush. I will be in Pittsburg for the next two weeks enjoying fall foilage. When I get back I would be interested in purchasing at that time.
  3. Prefer 48" by 24" fooot print. Prefer tank to be 24" minimum.
  4. I would require shopping cart functionality. The domain is set up with GoDaddy and I would use PayPal at this time. I should back up a little. I have been using "vegatable filter" ( http://www.reefland.com/articles/rho/best-plants-and-algae-for-refugia-part-II-vegetable-filters) as my reef husbandry for years. In the last 5 years I have use this method with much success. After mulching many plants with chaeto as a method of nutriant export, I moved on to ediable seaweed, Red Ogo. http://www.specialtyproduce.com/produce.php?item=195 http://www.ipsf.com/tangheaven.html I now have four 100 gallon tanks in the ground with decorative and ediable seaweed. I got the system thru the hottest summer on record with evaporative cooling and air bubble circulation. It was my intention to use these in ground tanks to be seed stock for a business expansion to include a 10K gallon tank with a greenhouse over it. Got to go.
  5. Due to computer illeteracy, I require help to set up a web page for Castille Coral Ranch (CCR). I will be happy to pay a day rate for your time. Patrick
  6. J, You have been given some good information. With respect to cynobacteria, it does not matter what the nutriant level is in the water column. It manufactures its own nutriants under the red slim mat. Always increase circulation in the effected area. In the case of rock covered red slim algae, use a toothbrush attached to some airline tubing as a siphon and brush rock clean and siphon off. Cynobacteria is a high nutriant sceanario. I run high nutriant natural systems. If I get cynobacteria, I increase phosphate removal. In my case, I use calurpae to remove both phosphate and nitrate. Patrick

Really nice crafmanship. Very clean sharp lines, I like your work. Very impressive wood floors.<BR><BR>Your Cajun friend,<BR>Patrick
  8. \ With respect to the fishing report for the Texas Gilf Coast. IT IS HOT. The fishing is good at the jetties, as well as in the inland bays. I am looking for someone with a pickup truck that is going to Corpus. Thre weeks ago, I totaled my pickup truck and am without transportation. I planned to camp out and would like to bring my canoe and cooking equipment to boil and fry seafood or whatever. If necesary, I will rent a vechicle and soujour. I look forward to this time. Cajun Patrick

  10. The First Law of Thermodynamics is that Matter can not be created or destroyed (E=MC SQUARD). It is at this point that I establish myself as a person who views individual rights of ownership of surface land, allows me to withdraw subsurface ground water. At this present point in time, I have been without central AC for three months. Today, I am flowing 15GPM from an aquifier full of sulfur, magnesium and calcium. The elements are ecssary for all life. However, they raise hell on indoor plumbing. Engineer Termodynamics 101 1 btu (BRITISH THERMAL UNIT) IS THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY TO RAISE ONE POUND OF WATER ONE DEGREE FAIRENHEIT. 1 GALLON OF WATER WEIGHS 8.34 LBS. 1000 BTU IS THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY TRANSFERED WHEN ONE POUND OF WATER EVAPORATES. DO THE MATH AND SEE THE POTENTIAL OF EVAPORATIVE COOLING. I am going to push the envelope and say that I will cook stuffed pork chops and feed whomever braves the heat and comes on down. Patrick
  11. I am going to win the fishing tournament. Yah for Patrick
  12. As I have already indicated I would like to camp out. IF PEOPLE CAN AGREE, i WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO COOK CRABS AND SHRIMP FOR EVERYONE. Because I am on fixed income, social security retirement, I can not afford to buy cart blanch. I had planned on several days camping. Please assite me with "La bonne temp rtoulee".. Patrick

    Hello, new here

If you are interested in natural nitrate reduction and skimmerless operation come see my setup and I will be happy to talk reef addiction. Patrick
  14. I just did get my computer back on line. I am truly sorry that advance notification of absent host was not posible. I got to spend the night and day in Travis County Central Booking "the drunk tank". If you need a reason not to drink and drive, it is a sobering experience to wake up in the drunk tank. For people that drove such a large distance, I can only hope that it was a beautiful day for a drive. As I am retired, I am always available to show off my tanks and talk reefing. At any time that people want to visit I am available. Just call up,as it is in the country and I am not always home. Patrick 512-514-1446
  15. I will have some chicken sausage gumbo as well as smoked boudain, and sausage. If people wanted to relax outside on the patio, I also have an eight person Jacuzi. It could be a good idea to bring an outside chair and a towel if you planned to use the Jacuzi. Patrick
  16. IMO you do not need to have a protein skimmer with the present bioload. However, I am a big proponant of surface skimming. This is especially critical when photoperiod is off. With lights out plants no longer remove CO2 and add oxygen. Withot surface skimming this conditin is prolonged. Protein skimming will assist with this low oxygen. I think surface skimming is more efficiant at air exchange and it does not strip nutriants from the water as does protein skimming. There is more than one way to skin the cat..

  19. I agree about the grassbeds on inland bays. As I went to Texas Maritime Academy in Galveston for four years, a Gulf Coast Theme was my first marine aquarium. The nets which I used consisted of a top and a bottom line with a fine mesh net from top to bottom with two people, each on an oppossite end, working the net. I have also used a dip net with fine mesh and only one operator. I love to watch the handlers of the round throw nets. It just looked like a real thing of athletic skill. Kind of like watching paired doubles figure skating, they each know there part to the dance. Anyway, I digress. It would suit me to keep out on the beach. Is this acceptable at this site. help

I have lost fish in a large system in which I had propagating tanks using 4 hours of indirect sunlight. As I was using 64 square feet of tank with a 6" water de[th, it was easy to saturate some of these low level light demanding softies, On one occasion, while vacationing for two weeks in the Smokie Mountains for Autumn Roilage, a power outage with the local co-op caused a low level oxygen reading in the water coloum to kill all fish. No invetebrae were hurt, howevfer, there was much stress to the system. Luckily, this occurred the day before I returned home from vacation. No fish had decomposwed after the short time after death. Unless you monitore dissolved oxygen levels levels 24/7, you will nwever know for sure. Keep the Peace,Spread the Faith. Patrick.
  21. We walked out to the end of the jetty and took nets (with the small holes) and head lamps. When you shine the flashlight into the water, you can see the peppermint shrimps red eyes glowing. They like to hang out around the edge of the rocks. It was pretty fun This outing is great. I actually leaned toward seigning herbivores. Green Sailfin Mollies and Grass Shrimp (Ghost Shrimp) are usually abundant in the inland marsh. I would do this during daylight hours and need a second person to assist. If there is to be a campfire on the beach, I can operate a gas burner and boil crabs and/or shrimp. I like to do potaoes and corn as well as onions and a new entry is mushrooms. If this fits into the theme of things, I will bring some fishing gear as well. Once down there, I planned on staying for a few days. La bonne temp roulee. Patrick
