  1. I've been gathering some color for the tank over the past few weeks (thanks ARC!). It'll be fun watching these grow out. I also took some pictures of coral that have been in there a long time. As expected, I had to set up my doser for alk again a couple days ago. I have plans for a few more additions in the future, so I'll be mapping out my par this week and making sure everything is in a good spot. Here's to a successful refresh of the tank for 2019! Happy New Year ARC!

  3. That's awesome! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  4. If you don't find a pump or get yours working, can you hook up a bubbler in the sump? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  5. I don't know anything much about anemones, but that toadstool should be fine if you cut it at the base and move it. If you decide they do need more space. Mine peels off the rock pretty easily. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  6. This has been my experience with ich. It shows up randomly for a day or so, I don't do anything but watch it, and it's gone just as fast. I haven't noticed anything in common with the times I see it and it's not very often. Fingers crossed it continues this way! I haven't lost any fish to it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

  9. What a great read, wow! You have amazing attention to detail, I can see why your wife wants you to build the cabinets! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  10. Does anyone have red dragon acropora that could cut me a frag?
  11. Welcome to the club! Lots of amazing builds to read about here. Do you have any pictures to share of your previous tanks? I always enjoyed having a pico and would like to see what you did with yours! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  12. Good to see you around again! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  13. Your pictures are amazing! We used to do a photography meeting every January that had some great tips for taking pictures of a reef tank. I think there's a write up of the tips around the site here somewhere. Doesn't look like you need any of them though! Wow! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  14. I finally did it. I got some FTS! I know, I know it's so overdue, but I was busy incubating our 4th frag, another boy 😆 I'm slowly getting back into it and the tank back in shape. Finally got it cleaned up (with help, thank you timfish) and am trying to think of it as a clean slate rather than be frustrated with what I've lost. I'm gearing up to get some nice corals in there soon. Quite a bit held on through it all, but I did lose some over the past year. My current plans are to clear out the valley and get the sandbed cleaned up. Get the frags off of it mostly. My Apex stopped working, so I have a troubleshooting session in my future. Having a really simple setup has sure paid off in this case. All I really lost was my lighting program, so now I just have a timer turning them on and off. I will be happy to get back to having some variation in the spectrum over the day. And I lost the variation in the closed loop strength.
  15. No, I closed it down when I got pregnant. Had to simplify things. They were very easy to breed though!
  16. Hey! Good to see you back. Can't wait to see what you do with this tank!
  17. He's not in this group but Dr Geigel at Vida Veterinary does aquatics if anyone ever needs one who does.
  18. Thanks for the bump! I don't have anything exciting to post unfortunately. The tank has largely been on autopilot for a while now. Lately I've been having some corals bleaching, which has been frustrating. I've had some trouble keeping up with my ATO this winter, I guess from the house heater running in the cold weather. The tank is flying through fresh water causing salinity swings. I'm hoping to get several new fish soon and restock some coral once I'm sure things are under control in the tank again. I realized a few days ago a lot of my testing kits are expired so I don't know what all my params are. I'll probably just run some water to the dome for testing rather than buy a bunch of new tests, or at least until I cave and buy them. I'll post pics when I can get some 🙂
  19. Awesome build so far! I love the stand.
  20. Wow! Everything is coming along so nicely. And that frag tank is incredible. Great job!
  21. How exciting!! What a great update! It's looking good!
  22. It's been ages since I updated. I went ahead and just took some FTS tonight even though the tank's not in the shape I wish it was in. I'll never get pics if I keep waiting for the perfect time! I'm having some corals die off, but then others really start taking off. Strange but I'm trying to roll with it. My DC closed loop pump was out of commission for a couple months probably, and I just got it online again today. I've also had some big alk swings recently I'm getting on top of. Surprisingly it's lps I'm losing and the sps taking off. I'm baffled but maybe the lps just need more flow and the sps not as much as I thought? So now I suppose everything will change again in the coming months now that my pump is working and I've settled into the new groove [emoji12]
  23. Wow, I did not realize it's been so long since I updated! Nothing has changed except several generations have gone onto other homes. This setup has worked very well. So far they are really hardy, much more so than I expected in the beginning. The babies are not though. If they don't have a constant food source they'll disappear fast. The adults though can go a long time without food, surprisingly. That's all I have to add for now. With the weather cooling down I'm thinking more about moving them to the sump of my 150, but I'm not even doing a good job of keeping those temps stable without a heater. Maybe I'll be reporting on their cold hardiness next.
  24. They're one of my favorites too!! I have purple and orange right now. I'll see if I can put together some progress shots.
  25. Yay!!! Finally!! It's beautiful!!
