  1. Whoa! I've never seen anything like that.
  2. Great idea. I haven't ever checked that. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  3. Okay, thanks! I'll watch for a change within a few days. Hopefully I can bring it down nice and slow. As far as what's the real cause I'll have to do some thinking. It's been at it's current level for as long as I can remember. I'll need to look back at any notes I left over the years. It has been getting a 20-25 gal water change every week for maybe 6 months now and I run chemipure blue. Neither the water changes nor the media has lowered the phos any. 4. I want to lower my phosphates using gfo in my mixed reef. I know to start slow, but what does that really mean? Say I tested every day, what might be a safe ppm to lower it each day or week or...? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  5. I still just use my phone so I don't know much about the fancy cameras. I'd say you're off to a great start though! Nice pictures. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  6. Welcome! I'm excited to see this build come together! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  7. That's cool. I enjoy little surprises like that. I have an oyster that started growing out of nowhere and it's slowly gotten bigger over the years. Been fun to watch. That's a cute picture of your fish too! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  8. I have 3 boxes of this if anyone wants them. Located near southpark meadows
  9. Of all the words I could think to describe you, "lazy" would have never entered my mind! If you set the bar for lazy then I can't imagine what I would be [emoji23] I'm a wait for build up kind of person for lights, cleaning the glass, salt creep, etc, but there would have to be a noise to make me take the time to clean a return pump. I bet mine haven't been touched in 4+years [emoji21] Taking the time for that kind of maintenance is part of the reason I don't have a cup in my skimmer and I don't use filter socks. I would like to be more proactive about cleaning the lights though. They're expensive and the salt build up can really kill the par. (We're seriously not cleaning the bottom of our sump now, right?) 10. You'll get pulled back in soon enough (hurry up with your tank already) Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  11. Ha! Believe me, I have tried. I think it's about as good as it can get considering it pulls out from both sides. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  12. Plugged in the Apex display and it appears to be working. That's great news so far. I also sort of reluctantly put the heaters in. I took the temp of the water 5 different ways and got 4 different readings from 76-80. Not pleased about that. Next step is to test my thermometers and see if any are accurate before I set the heaters.
  13. I was wondering if we still did the scholarship, that's awesome. This is great timing for my tank. I'm excited! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  14. Got some goodies in yesterday. Parameters look good but I need to continue to bring my po4 down. Baby steps. Today I attempted to do something about my light box. It's a mess up there and easy to forget about. I pulled everything out, took all the lights apart and cleaned them. 😬 Tried to reorganize cords. My Apex head unit has been sitting around waiting for me to connect it again. That's as far as I got, just plugging it in. Hoping tonight I'll get a chance to see if it's working or not. If/when I get it working, then there'll be a bunch more cords up in that light box again because they'll need to be re-connected to each other. Such a mess. Now that all the lights are clean I need to carve out some time to see what kind of par I'm getting.

Welcome to the club! Beautiful tank. Sorry to hear about the losses, that's always hard. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  16. I just found and read your build thread, WOW! What an incredible set up, and you built it yourself, fantastic!
  17. Thanks! It's coming along. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  18. It's like a light pink? Just the regular color. I had the blues turned down but it always looks either that dark in pictures, or totally washed out. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  19. Check out this bubble coral. It's always looked healthy and happy, but it's been especially happy lately! I've had it many years and it started in my tank as a 3rd generation polyp from a colony bought in the early '90s.
  20. Success with dendros but never with sun coral. Never heard of anyone having success long term without considerable work, including pulling the coral out almost daily into a feeding bowl or constructing some sort of dome to go over it and inject food into. It's so hard long term to get it to consistently open up to eat. Dendros are easy though, but will need to be fed. I have an auto feeder sitting above mine in such a way that with the flow, it sends food right at the polyps. It's still not enough though, I know they appreciate when I broadcast feed frozen, and especially small stuff like cyclopeeze. Dendros seem to always run about $25/head. 21. That looks amazing, wow! I love the progress pics. I found the same to be true in my tank. Both with the Mg and skimmer. Pulled the skimmer cup out and never replaced it and sponges appeared all over, in the DT and sump. Glad to hear of another successful tank running without a skimmer! 22. It looks really good so far! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  23. Wow! What a difference. It's beautiful! I'm glad everything went well while you were gone! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  24. The mother for that Tyree toadstool was my first group buy when I joined arc so many years ago, and this is the first time I've seen polyp extension like that! I'm really enjoying that little baby frag that popped up. I'm thinking I've had it in too much light all these years. Or in not enough flow.
