  2. I brought back frags from a reefer in Seattle wrapped in wet paper towels and stuffed in my pockets. Took probably 15 hours total to get them back in the water. They all survived.
  3. See that was the problem. You never told us you had black overflows. I would have said black too. I had glass overflows so it basically disappeared.
  4. It's not paint. It is Coroplast. It is basically plastic cardboard. I got it at Regal Plastics. It is $15 for a 4' x 8' piece. It is rigid and stood up over the almost 4 years I had that tank. Nice thing is you can remove it if you need to for maintenance or to see something behind the tank.
  5. I disagree (big surprise). I had a dark blue background on my 125 and really liked it. The corals still stood out, but it looked more like distant ocean than black does. I bet you never even noticed my background was blue did you Marc?
  6. Buying from them just encourages them to keep carrying them. They have to be the largest cause of death of marine animals in the hobby. There is a petition going around to get them to stop carrying SW animals.
  7. I will take the Rainbow Monti! I can come by tomorrow.
  8. There are lots of different opinions on how dog breeding should or should not be done. If we can discuss them without getting personal or accusatory then fine. If not we will have to moderate threads. Seems like this one is done anyway.
  9. I think Andrew is trying to say something bad is bound to happen.
  10. The pic you posted looks similar to a Christmas or Ornate Wrasse. If so I highly doubt it is the culprit. I had one for several years until it jumped. He would eat the occasional snail that got flipped over or a hermit but never messed with my starfish. How big is the Wrasse? I would lean more toward a Mantis or Lobster that hitchhiked in to the tank. Or possibly disease like Timfish said.
  11. No no no. Those were the extras so we could stay down longer.
  12. I am glad there is such excitement and willingness to help. Someone has already offered to make some viewing tanks out of acrylic next month. So hopefully over the summer we can get this all put together for the next school year. Once we have the tanks then I will start organizing who can bring/donate what.
  13. Yeah I was going to say that with that many angels you are going to have trouble keeping much in the way of corals. They will most likely nip at the frogspawn. I would think you would be safe with Zoas and Mushrooms and maybe a few others. I think you will not be able to keep any shrimp with the Red Coris. My Mystery Wrasse ate a pretty large cleaner shrimp.
  14. So I was listening to the first Reef Addicts podcast yesterday and got an idea from what they were talking about. I was thinking we could setup some kind of educational display that we could take to our kid's classes to teach them a little about marine animals. Also with the idea of letting them know we need to protect theses animals and their environment. It doesn't need to be anything fancy. I was thinking a low and long rubbermaid with some sand and a couple rocks. We could put in it Chocolate Chip Starfish, Hermits, snails, maybe a bristle star. Things they could touch without hurting them. It would be really easy to setup but the issue would come in storing it. Anyway, it's an idea I wanted to present and see where all of you wanted to go with it, or if I am flying solo here.
  15. +1 on the muriatic acid. Don't even need to run it. Just let it soak over night then scrub. It will come right off. I always just rinse mine really well with the water hose afterwards and then towel dry.
  16. It used to be very rare. But as it is a pretty fast grower and many people have bought and traded frags, it seems to be getting fairly common. Makes me wonder if it may be reintroduced into the wild at some point. I have 2 trees myself. They close up when lights are off and open up with the light. I would call the flow they are under as moderate in my tank. I have noticed they don't seem to like high flow areas.
  17. Just checked my profile and I joined in April of 06 and I was in near the very beginning, so I guess about 4 years.
  18. Andrew founded it. I think it was about 5 years ago.
  19. Notice that last word? That is why I said get looked at immediately. I read on RC of someone who after handling Zoas later almost died from not being able to breathe. It is not something to take lightly if you feel symptoms.
  20. No and yes! Go see a Doctor now. There can be serious side effects from their toxin. Seriously get to the ER and don't drive yourself!
  21. Could also be a Carpenter's Flasher. They are very similar.
  22. Marc came over and wanted headshots taken. He insisted on the Boa.
