  1. What a gorgeous set up! All your hard work has really payed off. I don't know if I could sleep at night If I had such a beauty.... is there such thing as tank insurance?
  2. Interesting! And it makes sense - usually when I'm stressed I wish there were two of me! Any opinions on whether or not this is too many anemones to keep in a 65 gal? Current count is two GBTA's and one small RBTA.
  3. This is getting weirder.... I just found another GBTA stuck to the side my sump! With a plastic dosing fork stuck in his foot! (no idea how the fork ended up in the tank) This guy has been on a wild ride! Did the original nem get torn in half? Will they both survive? Did my clowns hire the cleaner shrimp as a hit man to get rid of the nem because they heard me calling them stupid because they wouldn't go near it !? The plot thickens.... Just found in sump Hard to see, but look in the middle. Found in the overflow.
  4. So I've had a GBTA for the last four months or so. Got back from vacation, and he was gone - just disappeared. I figured he got caught in a powerhead and dissolved over time. That was over three weeks ago .... and I found the dummy yesterday in my overflow behind some pipes (NO idea how he even got in there - the slats are tiny). I put him back in his spot and he stuck for awhile, then crawled halfway under a rock. He doesn't look good at all - discolored, puny, white on the tips of his tentacles. Is there anything I can do for him? My first inclination was to feed him alot, but I'm not sure. Do these guys bounce back easily, or are they pretty delicate? And on another note, I got a RBTA a few days ago. Will they co-exist peacefully?
  5. PM sent re Purple Deaths and frogspawn hybrid
  6. I'm trying to figure out the best way to direct the flow in my tank. I'm working with one Koralia 4, one Koralia 3, and my return that pushes a good amount of water, in a 65 gal tank. I currently have a Koralia on each side of the the tank angled toward each other, and the return is coming out of a box in the rear LH corner. I'm having a hard time finding a good balance. Seems like either my sand gets shifted around alot, the surface becomes too agitated, or my polyps and other corals look like they're in a tornado! Any suggestions? Could I have too much flow going on?
  7. Help! My powerhead just busted - does anyone have a Koralia 3 or 4 they are willing to part with? I'm looking for two of either model.
  8. Willing to take 100. Great deal on a great light!

  10. Oh, really? I didn't know there was a difference. I didn't see any other blue bulb options at the LFS.
  11. Well, I just replaced my compact fluorescents (2 10k 96watt / 2 actinic blue) with HO T5's (2 18k 39 watt/ 2 actinic blue 39 watt) The white bulbs alternate with the blue. It should look good, right? Well, it doesn't. The colors look pretty washed out - flat and almost dead looking in comparison. Even my husband noticed the difference, and that's saying something . What do you guys think ?
  12. has not set their status

  13. Not at all, polarbear RO is the best way to go. I have been using an RO/DI unit that is set up in my garage. I may just be really lazy, but it is a real pain to get the water going (I have to go into the garage and set up a bucket, go around the house, turn on the faucet, make sure it doesn't overflow, go back around the house to turn it off - usually walking through some mud because the hose leaks sometimes, trying not to trip on the dogs - then haul the water to the tank trying not to spill on the laminate flooring - then I try to get it into the sump without spilling but that never happens ........... then I do it again a few days later. arg.) I tried storing the water, but that did not work. It lasted about a week before it started to smell, even though it was a brand new container. Since my tank loses about a gallon and a half per day, I'm looking forward to getting a top off system to cut back on all that water hauling. I'm also planning on installing an RO system in the kitchen to make things more convenient.
