  1. Up the amount of flow through the fuge. How are you feeding the fuge? Typically the fuge baffle is taller or the same height.
  2. I don't think the problem is your return pump. If I understand correctly something is stopping the water getting back to the return section of your sump fast enough. It sounds like it isn't your drain. I would try removing some of the panels from the bubble trap and see if that works.
  3. Is the tank filling up or staying at the same level?
  4. Good stuff. Nice clown pics.
  5. NICE! The aquascaping is awesome!
  6. Date and Time: Saturday May 10th, 2008 2pm Location: Brian Jackson's House 303 Willow Wood dr Pflugerville tx, 78660 Tank: Brian's 300G Reef (Reefcentral.com tank of the month winner) Topic: Sump Design and Building by Mark Levenson (aka Melev) from Dallas/Fort Worth. I do request a RSVP via this thread(aka reply and say you are coming) so Brian can prepare his house. Also, if any one is willing to donate money to help cover Mark's travel expenses please IM me. If am absolutely NOT requiring a donation, but if you are willing contribute that would be fantastic. Anything helps. thank you James Map: View Larger Map
  7. I am very glad they worked out! I figured they would make a difference even with the MH on.
  8. Thank you MIKE! The tank and the meeting were fantastic. Thank you BRIAN and JOHN! Every thing went VERY well. Next year this same time we will have to come back and see the tank again.
  9. I would check into T5 lighting
  10. Welcome to the club and hobby You have asked a ton of questions in an amazingly short space. Congrats! 1)DO NOT get sand from the beach. You will have MANY problems if you do. Texas beaches are SOOOOO nasty. 2)There are many different types of filtration available. The most popular is the Berlin Method. Zeovit is another variation. It uses biological filtration, but does not require live rock. Hiatt filtration is another. I don't recommend this one for a reef with corals. I hope this gets you started. Post if you have any other questions.
  11. That sounds good. I think your fish are in a good place. As long as they eat I wouldn't worry about the ich until a week or so has gone by. Assuming there isn't anything else in the tank, you can raise the temp to 82ish and lower the salinity to 1.18 or so. However, their symptoms might come back once they are introduced into your reef system. Very nice fish!
  12. I would hold off on meds for right now. I would get some garlic soak for their food and try to feed them every day. Good water conditions and strong eating will clear up ich most of the time. You could also soak the food in vitamins and fatty acids. Give them some time to naturally recover before stressing them even more with meds. Especially formalin! BTW I live in South Austin and apparently take the hippie approach to helping sick fish.
  13. Not that much. J-tube $4 acrylic $10(maybe) Glue $5 Regal Plastic has a $25(if memory serves) minimum. If you come with cash on Friday they will look the other way. You can easily get enough material for an overflow in their scrap pile.
  14. 250W is a ton of light for a 29G! I am absolutely not going to say it is "too much," but I think a 150W would serve you just fine. BTW an auto top off is going to be 100% necessary. Especially over the weekends.
