  1. Who monitors ORP here? Would do you look for? Do you do anything to manipulate the ORP? Do you use ozone? Just thought I would start a discussion with local experience.
  2. The best way to rid yourself of detritus is to keep it suspended in the water and remove it with mechanical filtration. Filter socks work pretty well just make sure to clean them every couple of days.
  3. Visit My Website I thought these were pretty neat. They even have remote filtration. When we buy our $850,000 condo downtown we defiantly get one of these.
  4. I think it is time to take some rock out of the display, put it in the sump, and make room for the clam. BTW too big for my tank.
  5. A couple of my buddies have done it. It can be a long process, but they said it was worth it.
  6. Some leathers propagate by splitting. If it is still standing up striaght then I would just monitor it. Bent droopy leathers are a bad sign.
  7. That is exactly what the guy said. You must be clairvoyant.
  8. Bump Cause I am excited! Does anyone have their plane ticket yet?
  9. I hope the new FOWLR goes well. You certainly are getting a fantastic group of fish. Mated Crosshatch! Color me green and it's not easy being green. I am sorry to hear about your tough luck on the reef. It sounds like you are in good hands. I am sure things will turn around. My feeling on bulbs is if they don't look right send them back. If you don't do it now they won't take them back. I don't know what ballasts and such you have, but go with your gut. Bad bulbs suck and cause problems. BTW Great start to the blog.
  10. I have read and seen other MJ mods that look very similar. For 20 bucks it is worth a try.
  11. MAG Pumps have been know to leak when run externally. I have ZERO experience personally running mags externally however. At that same price range you might check out a quietone(flame now I know). I have to suggest an ehiem, but I know they are crazy expensive. You also have the option of hunting around for a used external pump like an Iwaki or panworld. BTW If you get a good deal on a MAG pump give it a try.
  12. Too good! Those are fantastic. WAAAAAAAAAAY better then any shot I have ever taken.
  13. Yes, The cheapest and easiest place to do it is binswager(sp?) glass. If you need holes for a 3/4" bulkhead, I have the bits and I am willing to HELP YOU do it. Several other members have the needed bits as well. Some LFS will do it. Aquadome will but it is crazy expensive. Kingfish has the bits and is worth giving a call. BTW all these options come with zero guarantee. If the tank cracks it cracks. Don't be scared though. It makes aquarium maintenance easier. Oh...River city does it too
  14. Send them back at their expense and order from reefgeek or Kingfishand never look back.
  15. From the pole last month it looks like we are going to talk about auto top-offs. Sump design will be march.
  16. I think it's about the money here. I am with Gabe. If it is a good deal, sure. You already know this history so offer a price accordingly.
  17. Man that is WAY simpler then the chemistry kit that is the Tropic Marine test.
  18. Looks good! I like the fuge section section. Filling with water is the best part.
  19. 1) ESV Mag and Bionic 2) Garlic extreme soon to be switching to Kyolic(thanks Gabriel!)
  20. Sounds great! I will give you a call today.
  21. I use the "ebay special" I think it is pretty accurate. WAY more then our swing arm! Many of the cheap ebay refractos are unbranded version of the more expensive ones. JMO not gospel or even guaranteed correct
  22. Value can only be determined by market. Apparently in Austin they might be, but they are still hard to keep. Filter feeders in general require specialized feeding(tons of food) and water flow(a bunch). I like most LFS, but come on $120 for something that may survive and will most not likely not flourish is in my opinion is outrageous.
