  10. Ich is common. It's like a cold for a fish. If it wasn't like that at the store then it could be due to stress. Since it's been cold I'd be leaning toward a 3 degree drop in temperature from transporting. Just let him be and don't cause him any more stress by trying to move him. You can probably ask someone on the forum close to you for a couple drops of garlic extract so you don't have to buy a bottle. Just 2 drops per frozen mysis cube should do it.
  11. I would soak his food in garlic extract and do a water change. You can also pick up a UV light rated for your tank size and that should help as well.
  12. Pico tank problem or is it all part of the plan?

  13. "Stocking and equipment lists must be finalized 30 days prior to voting." I think it's fair to say it still goes towards your livestock budget since you bought it and put it in your tank unless you can sell it and recoup some of the cash but you can't sell it for more than you purchased it for. "You may not increase your budget by selling equipment/livestock/corals from your system."
  14. Oh and I didn't have any circulation for the longest time. Check out my build thread here: http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/16238-taking-it-to-the-next-level/ It actually had no pumps for a whole year and I still have 1 of the 2 original clowns in my tank almost 3 years later.
  15. It sounds like your g/f is attempting to set up a FOWLR. Please check with her to make sure this is the case so people can help give you more specific answers. Also I would see if you can get her to register on the site so she can comb the forums for the info she's needing. If you are only setting up a FOWLR you really only need salt for 10% water changes, a brute trash can to hold the water and a power head to mix it all. You can use tap water which is how I started with my tank although when funds become available I would really get an RO/DI 5 stage unit as your first purchase. You can also buy the drinking attachment so you can have filtered tap water without having to buy water bottles so it'll pay for itself. I think that canister filter might be more trouble than what it's worth at the beginning stages anyway. The LR will filter everything and water changes will do the rest.
  16. and I think the fun part is anyone can view and play around with it and it doesn't require you to have photoshop.
  17. If your tank has algae growing everywhere then I would hold off on adding anything until it starts receding. I'd also add more CUCs to your tank to eat any uneaten food/algae. I'd also check out this coming club meeting where you can get several freebie corals and well as raffle prizes.
  18. My wife tagged along with me to a MACNA conference one year where one speaker was specifically talking about breeding fish and building a fish room. Needless to say that was the one thing my wife picked up on and immediatly said no to a fish room but these are awesome and +1 to having Bio build it.
  19. Cool. I noticed Target started carrying them and their not too badly priced if your in the market for a camera.
  20. Put together a very cheap and easy frag rack consisting of 2 zip ties, 2 3/4" PVP Tee, and left over egg crate.
  21. According to the article unless they don't have their facts straight then it's Idaho Aquarium Director and Owner Ammon Covino Aquarium Director Christopher Conk So Chris Conk was convicted 2 years ago with his ex wife. Regardless of who officialy owns the aquarium they are brothers (Vince Covino and Ammon Covino)and knew what they were doing was wrong since Chris Conk was already convicted and is probably still on parole. Doesn't look like we really wanted them here anyway http://www.zoochat.com/22/idaho-aquarium-review-262820/
  22. Although I'm all for an aquarium in Austin I cannot allow these guys to ever open shop here. Sorry guys doesn't look like this is going to happen.
  23. Wow good find jestep. After I get my new tank up I can start accepting 50,000 visitings a year at $3 a pop. It would be nice to have an ARC co-op at the aquarium where each member can pay in to rent/have donated a tank and aquascape/stock it to their liking and care for it.
  24. Nope, water change and carbon should do it.
