From my understanding it appears photos need to go in 2 different spots. A build log and somewhere else right? Also the 1 picture a month does not specify having water or even being a FTS. "Each participant will be responsible for a build log (min 3 photos) as well as photos at the beginning of each month (min 1)." Edit... I guess it's this piece your talking about in the Livestock section "All tanks must be set up no later than February 15th, and no sooner than January 15th."

I use the modified durso standpipe method for my HOB overflow. When I was running an under rated pump I would just close one pipe so I know it'll work in your instance.

So if tank budget is $150 and equipment budget is $150 then I can spend $300 on equipment with the tank fund going to slush if tank was free? Same thing with livestock. If I don't want to put any fish in my tank but want to get some really expensive corals I can move the $100 livestock fund into the $150 coral fund as a coral slush fund of $250?

I originally thought of doing a comic themed tank as well but going the DC route. I'll be tuned in to see how this ends up. Just be carefull with dosing in that small of a tank. Too much gamma in such a small area could have everything green real fast.

Don't know if this was covered but is there a problem if I don't put water in my tank the first month? I'm still waiting on stuff to come in the mail and more money as well since i had to get another return pump for my current tank. I can post pics within the first month of my progress but really haven't decided what's officially going in the tank yet until I can collect from the tax man.

I agree with this Ditto Kim, I think this applied to equiptment as well. If you buy an HOB filter and are able to sell it then you can deduct the sales price from the total. If you cannot sell it then I would assume you have to add it to your total since it would be considered a backup. Think there was another example of this earlier on as well.

Just bought a heater and black sand the other day but other than that I will be pulling water and rock from my sump as well as microfauna. Still undecided exactly what I will stock in here though but I have to fight myself not to buy those awesome dwarf seahorses Bio is putting in his tank.

I started my tank 3 years ago as a FOWLR. I did so much reading and started my tank on a budget with just buying sand and salt and filling with tap water. After my tank cycled then I bought 80lb LR off of craigslist for $2/lb. Then pumps Then lights and so on until now I'm adding a twin tank It basically comes down to exactly what you want but you will always miss the boat because there are hundreds of thousands of different tank designs and unless money is no object then you can't have them all.
