  1. dont know about that light, but if it has workhorse ballasts then it should be a great light as thr workhorse is a very good ballast for all applications..after looking at it a little more i glanced at the price and whoa thats kinda high for 2 t5s and a 250w mh
  2. You are correct I went back and found the post. It was brine.
  3. correct me if im wrong but mysis shrimp have no real nutritional value correct? i know when i was reading about clowns before i got them i read somewhere that feeding them mysis was like giving them cotton candy made them hyper for a few mins but had no nutritional value at all and would need to be used as a treat more then food. Not sure if its the same for this type of application.
  4. I used mud in my fuge i have about 1 1/2g of mud covered with about an inch of sand. when i setup my fuge this was what was suggested by John at Reef Cleaners. he said something about the mud being better for growing bacteria then sand, but you needed the sand on top to hold the mud and filter the the saltwater from the mud. the nutrients in the mud are better for the fuge and you have more directions for different types of biological filtration in the long run. (he also suggested mangroves witch i haven't got yet).
  5. got me on the dead fish. i dont understand that eaiher. i cant stand that..
  6. You always take a risk when we buy from anywhere. even from some reefers. you never know and they mite not even know either. most the shops that i have been to are pretty busy. its rare you see someone standing around. with that said we know how difficult it can be to look after our own tanks and they are at home. now try to do it with people asking questions and talking to you and looking for advice all at the same time but insted of 1 or 2 tanks now you have 20 or more. it would really take alot to get everything done i could even say its probably hard to even just get the necessaries done before the shop closes. just my .02
  7. Im really sorry i cant help, i wanted too was really looking forward to seeing the tank.. but this situation here doesn't seem to be resolving its self in the quickest of manners. make sure you take pics..
  8. i like my Giesemann actinics but i didnt like the midday to yellow. i went with GLO 6.7k instead more white but im just running 1 with 3 actinics in my 4 t5 setup been thinking about going all t5 running 10 all togeather. i have seen good results from them on ATXryans tank.
  9. its to hard to be patient. but im tring. its hard when you see a nice tank and ur like **** i need to work on my tank..
  10. actually i left the mh off today and moved the 67k t5 light above them and they havent lost any more color. so im gonna do 30 min increments for 3 hrs to start getting them used to it, meaning 30 on 30 off.
  11. if their are bacteria for sps i should have it. im using biodigest in my tank..
  12. The one i got from you has always done very well..
  13. No i didnt do any type of dip.
  14. its th ends of the coral that are turning..
  15. The Digi it going from nice green color to white. i can still see some of the polyps as on lastnight the birdsnest is doing the same turning white. the green birds seems to be doing ok. as well as the green slimer
  16. i drip acclimated them, although i didnt put them on the sand bed. i added them to their spots right away. i had the digi on the sand bed for 3 days and it still was losing color. no big changes in the parameters since the additions. i had the digi in med flow like suggested by several sites. th birds nest is in the same flow med to high. i dont have a PH blowing directly at them or anything.
  17. yes their is another purple birsdnest thats doing well. another digi thats doing well. Mag 1350 Cal 430 DKH 9
  18. I recently picked up some new sps colony's a couple of birdsnest and some digi and some green slimer. they were under t5 lighting only they seem to be loseing color the digi seems to be getting very soft and very breakable. im not sure of the parameters of the tank they came from but mine are good no ammonia no nitrates ph is good, i running kalk and rowphos and carbon. i have the corals on the top of the tank with the MH bulb running 2 hrs a day so they can get used to it. Then im running the t5s 10 hrs a day. t5s are 1 6.7k 3 actinics the birdsnest is alittle less noticeable but the digi is the one that is doing the worst. i have moved it lower to mid level back to high and nothing seems to change it. all of my other sps corals are doing well in fact i have another peice of purple digi that seems to be growing like a weed. the green slimer is showing no signs of bleaching. i have noticed the pink birds seems to have stringy stuff hanging from it alot since the acquisition.
  19. Lol frag poker I love it! Everyone brings their poker frags in an ice chest. We should do something like that after a meeting I'd be in. That sounds like fun. If anyone does like to play I have a buddy that has pot limit games usualy .50-1.00 blinds I'm not a big poker player but the frag poker sounds fun.
  20. id like to get inline on this too. it would be cool to test and see savings, not to mention thde tank would run so much cooler.. Matt
