  1. I believe when I had mine that I had to have both bulbs in to make it work. Been a while though so my memory may be off.
  2. Hey Mike, how much do you need?
  3. Yeah, the HOA is going to be more difficult than the city. I'd check with them first.
  4. If this is an exterior wall you don't want to cut the stud unless you frame it with a header and support each side of the header. Either way, in a new home you'll be voiding your warranty. You're usually better off replacing a door with one you can put a dog door in. When/if you move you can just put the old door back on.
  5. I'm running the same skimmer on my 90 with 30g sump, you won't be over-skimming to run it full time.

If so they're not like any of the clown eggs my guys lay. Generally they're all laid out in a group about 3", and the clowns will be hovering near them. They start off bright orange but turn brownish after 4-5 days. At that time you can see eyeballs in them. Not sure what you've got there.
  7. Splitting can be due to stress or due to "happiness". It's a survival mechanism. I've had GBTAs split when tank conditions are atrocious and split/spread like weeds when conditions were optimal (lots of light, regularly being target fed). In all cases an anemone that does not extend its tentacles is stressed. If it is not extending it could be due to bad water conditions, lack of sufficient light, or lack of nutrition. If it is because of light you can sometimes nurse it by target feeding small pieces of silverside or mysis. Mysis is preferable as a stressed nem can have a hard time digesting the larger, more solid silversides.
  8. These guys can't wait to move to my pico with their window view of downtown Austin.
  9. Thanks guys! I'm just back from spending two weeks at Philmont with my son, we had a great time camping and getting away from it all. It was nice to get back and have some birthday wishes waiting for me. 40..... *sigh*
  10. I put a maxijet in mine and it works fine.
  11. Yeah, in addition to prob not being reef safe I wouldn't risk introducing wild parasites to my tank. Just not worth the cost.
  12. Right, I Know. I just want to know why that is? What makes a FW fish return OK (at some places) but not a SW fish return? Generally it is explained as the cost and difficulty in acclimating SW fish and critters. It requires much more expertise than FW acclimation, and you can quickly kill several expensive fish and the store is stuck footing the bill. This is one of the things that makes my Aquadome fish club membership worthwhile, they have a 50% of purchase price on SW purchases for I think 14 days.
  13. Ah man, that sucks. Sounds like you have the right attitude though. Shout if we can do anything to help.
  14. Sorry to hear about your losses, getting started can be frustrating. My guess would be that the clown died and the condy happened to grab it. Carpet anemones are known to catch fish, but condy's aren't nearly as aggressive, they just aren't good hosts for clowns. Bubble tips and Long Tentacle Anemones (LTA) are the preferred ones if you have other fish in the tank. We all learn the hard way not to trust all fish store employees. Figure out what you want to buy before going shopping, keep a list of "compatible" fish and corals, and then you can avoid the temptation about buying something you don't know about or that could be incompatible. Build trust with you local fish store employees by verifying what they tell you BEFORE you buy. I could have saved quite a bit of $$$ and fish lives over the last few years.
  15. Hey Christian, I've got some more frags of the devils hand coral if you want them.
  16. The tank was awesome in person, Kim is doing great and her horses are fat and happy. Glad the gorgonian is doing better now!
  17. I used the do it yourself screen kit with bird netting from home depot. Cost about $10, makes custom fit covers to keep you fish from jumping but doesn't trap in heat or get salt creep like glass does.
