Ok bought a nice zoa rock today that has some sort of brain on it and unidentified coral or two. Pics below. Cant wait to frag this bad boy! Oh yeah Im wondering about type of brain, what the red color is, if coral at all possibly coraline but it looks different to me, and the yellow coral indentity by the brain.

I would think that some macro would help. Did you read what John(reefcleaners) wrote about the algae? Interesting read if you havent already. I dont know where you are getting these nutrients from. I have heard Turbo snails will also mow this down along with sea hares but you said you already have them in there.

I have a small frag of zoas that are brown with a bright orange center. Prolly around 10 heads. I have a frag or two of clove polyps that I could trade. Also I guess I could trade a head of branching hammer if anyone would be interested. Located in San Marcos but go to aquadome pretty often. I will try and get pics when the lights come on tomorrow. I am open to most trades, just have pc's at the moment though. Kevin

Get them while you can. I was reading on reefcentral that someone has a patent on this and is sueing companies that make/produce led lighting for the aquarium. Even the moonlights. We will see what the courts say.

Yeah the clowns are giving me trouble. This last one I got was from aquatek and looked fine in the store. Made sure that they fed them and he/she ate great. My problem was that when I first saw the white spots I thought it was ich. So I when I medicated for ich I probably stressed the fish out more and didnt really affect the parasite at all. The next day I could tell it was not ich as it looked as it had slime on it. So then I started searching for formalyn, which cannot be found in san marcos btw. The next day I was going head up austin to get some but it was too late at this point. I did pick up some formallyn for next time just in case. I learned alot of lessons throughout this process. My fish(tang and damsels) in my display are doing great though, on a good note. The light is doing great btw thanks again! Kevin

Ok after losing a onyx clown to Brookylnella, just wondering what or how yall qt. As of now I still have one clown from the pair and purchased another one today. I am currently putting them in my 10g qt tank and it still has a little medicine in there. Do yall medication as a precaution or just if needed? I was thinking maybe a small dosage for incoming fish just to be safe especially after this incident.

Once I get some zoas to take off I wouldnt mind trading, etc. First I need to get the frags though lol. Unless someone wants a frag of clove polyps. I think that meetings would be a good place as more people would be there.

I guess my soil sciences classes finally pay off! The salt is very bad for your soil this is what is happening to most irrigated cropland nowadays. Especially with the drought that most of this country has been hit with the last couple of years. If the salt is not leached out of the soil it will adversely(making it acidic) affect your soil although now they are trying to cross many plants that are found in saltwater enviroments, which store the salt in little pockets that they grow, with plants that we could actually use for crops ect.

I am not sure but I have quite a few little white stars like that on my tank glass.

I saw diatoms at around 2-2.5 weeks, mine only cycled for about 1.5 weeks. The live rock should be ok but a shrimp would probably get the ammonia going if you would rather do that. I am not familar with stability though.

Will do on bringing the salinity up. I read(about leaving the qt that low) that in The New Marine Aquarium, i think that what it is called. I will try the fresh water dips as one clown looks like it has quite a few white spots hopefully they will release!
