  1. This was my old tank so if you have any questions let me know. I’d love to see a FTS or what it looks like now if you have one. DSA made it.
  2. This is coming up alot lately on the forums. The new LEDs have a very strong following it seems but from a business stand point I dont see them taking off. I think plasma may have a chance but we will see. Here is why I say LEDs are at a disadvantage-PFOs rights to LEDs being used for aquarium use. For another company to take them on in court they would rack up some fees plus if they won they would already be out that money while the competition could move in. The businesses wont make as much money selling bulbs. The long life on LEDs make them alot less profitable as the bulbs dont need to be replaced nearly as often. This is why alot of diyers are making there own fixtures from the high output LEDs with reflectors that suit their tank. I just dont see a manufacturer putting out a lower cost product(as there are some products out there already) anytime soon. Hydro- I didnt know you manufactured all that for gardening also. Im going to have to look more at your website.(I graduated with an Ag. degree last august.)
  3. That is awesome. I didnt see a price though. Im guessing it is alot of money with all the tests it runs.
  4. Feed the fish heavily as you can without causing a spike. If they eat they usually will pull through, sadly if they dont eat by the time you stress them out by catching them and moving them to a new enviroment alot of times they will still parish. Copper works wonders on ich though, just dont put it in a reef tank. Oh and a uv sterilizer will also help quite a bit.
  5. That was the only thing I noticed too. Other than that it looks good.
  6. Wow I need to find your secret. I use a sd750 and cant take good pics for the life of me.
  7. Found a rainbow also. Anyone have pokerstar or any other colorful variant?
  8. I am looking for some nice montis- rainbow, reverse sunset, reverse superman, pokerstar, etc. I think I have a lead on sunset and superman at the moment so any other colorful morphs would be great. I would love to trade corals but I could give cash if need be. I have alot of different color digitata, acans, lps, I also have a bunch of purple deaths paly frags I made this weekend, etc. let me know what you are looking for... And I will be looking to pick up in three weekends but if you fragged now its should be healed by then. Im going to eagle pass this weekend and skiing the next...
  9. Ps what kind of camera are you using that is a nice macro shot.
  10. Nassarius is correct. Ceriths are white and stringy somewhat like noodles. The nerites are a completely white dot. These are what Ive noticed from them hatching in my tank. I havent noticed my astrea eggs yet but have what looks to be thousands of little babies... unless they are nerites. The cerith babies are still growing. I may have alot for sale soon lol.
  11. I would never mix a maroon with another species. They are rather aggressive especially as they mature but I remember seeing on reefcentral a couple years back the maroon/perc breeding pair.
  12. Right now I am running 2x250w 20k reeflux with two super actinic vhos. Soon I will be switching to 10k though as I think it is way too blue. So I am thinking 2 250watt 10k xm bulbs with the vho actinics.
  13. Exactly why I gave some of mine away last week. I have them on an island but once they start sending out babies I trim them back and give them away.
  14. Oh it will one way or another. Even if I have to encourage it with a razor. lol But seriously I am going to wait to do this until it splits on its own and then I will cut up the clone that way I wont being bothering the "mother" anemone. I lost a rose after the TMAC conference after getting talked into cutting up anemones and dont want that to happen again.
  15. Here are some pics but my point and shoot just doesnt do it justice. It has a green base with bright orange tentacles and yellow tips. On a side note my clowns started hosting my hammers even though they have 6 different bubble tips to choose from. I thought with all the different color combos they would pick one but oh well at least they wont stress out the bta's when they split. Also I took the picture with my rose in the picture to show you just how orange it is. It is on the left and not all the way out at the time of picture.
  16. Just got this bad boy in today. I was hoping they didnt photoshop it at all but the colors were spot on. Also was worried about the cold weather but it came in looking fairly good. https://www.bluezooaquatics.com/productdetailcc.asp?did=11&cid=354&pid=4931
  17. She has a thread on reef central. 27 clownfish 27 months is what its called. Its a very nice tank.
  18. These arent the reviews I expected. After the previews, it looked lilke an expensive flop but now Ive heard from a couple people that it was better than expected. 3d Imax does sound appealing.

    2xGBTAs

These don't happen to be the orange tipped gbta would they?
  20. I'm footlong kiel online. Hit me up if you wanna run some mw 2.
  21. +1 for prof. He has some nice rock and great prices.
  22. Mine did and most tanks do but it is much quicker. I had ammonia the first couple days then nitrites for two days then was good to go with the levels anyway. Also had a buddy just set up a bc 29 his did the same. Also my parents 55 gallon did almost he same but nitrites were gone a little faster. All these tanks were set up the same way as I talked about. Everyone is going to have different ways of doing this. It's like asking people what's the best way to filter a tank. You will get tons of different answers from different people.
  23. I agree/disagree I would buy as much live rock in the beginning of setting up a tank. When I upgrade to a larger tank like my 180 I hit up prof for his dead rock. This is why and how. In the beginning I bought live rock from multiple places/people on the same day. This is because I would get the widest amount of diversity. The reason I add it at the beginning is because the nitrogen cycle will kill off the pest while the most the bacteria will survive. Once I then had pest free live rock with my 65 gallon I wanted the tang tank(180) so instead of risking pests I bought all dead rock and let the live rock seed the dead. I know I only have a few years experience but this has been the best biosecurityway while still giving me the diversity. Ps I always qt fish and dip my corals to protect me that way.
  24. I went to tmac and this is where I go most of the info I posted earlier. I wish I could have talked a little more about this with him. I don't know if you went to pings presentation on fuges but this is where he talked about testing with the dyes to see how quickly water would got through the dsb with different flows. The powerhead could work but then the flow in the fuge also increases. Don't get me wrong I think that it is a good idea I'm just saying that if it could be incorporated in the sump(higher flow) I think it would maximize efficiency of the dsb. I plan on doing a rubble/macro fuge and a dsb in the sump with my 180 if the sump will allow it. If not maybe a rdsb. But either way I will keep y'all posted on how it works out.
