  1. Go big or go home. Get the Ipad. jk
  2. That is awesome. I didnt see a price though. Im guessing it is alot of money with all the tests it runs.
  3. I now use clam strips as I have read the bones in silversides can hurt the anemone if not expelled. I have also heard of using the gel food like formula 2. Ive also fed them cooked shrimp but mysis or pe mysis ought to work if they can grab it with their tentacles.
  4. It was probably said but since it is bleached, it would be a good idea to feed it fairly often to give it the nutrients to get back on track.
  5. I used to race nitro rc cars just never got into the air. Hobby Town ought to be able to get you going the one I used to go to had a quite knowlegable staff. I have some rc gear if you ever want to try cars(hint hint) cheap/trade.
  6. Feed the fish heavily as you can without causing a spike. If they eat they usually will pull through, sadly if they dont eat by the time you stress them out by catching them and moving them to a new enviroment alot of times they will still parish. Copper works wonders on ich though, just dont put it in a reef tank. Oh and a uv sterilizer will also help quite a bit.
  7. If you did this all in one day be prepared for an ammonia spike. I didn't see how much you put in at once but better to be safe than sorry. I read on reefcentral a cup or two a day was a good number so you wouldn't kill your microfauna, etc. It also depends on how it is spread out I would think.
  8. Agreed, and make sure they are eating at the store. I know alot of stores have been getting in some nice specimens lately but I would let it sit a week there to let it acclimate to their tanks. The problem I faced was the $100 price tag if my purple tang decided to kill it. Again if you decided to go this route I would recommend a smaller specimen(3") as the retailers have been getting some nice ones in lately and they arent as aggressive at this stage, for the most part.
  9. That was the only thing I noticed too. Other than that it looks good.
  10. I tried to get an achilles for about half a year. I called around and they were never on the lists. Now that I broke down and bought a nice powder brown I dont want to risk it with an achilles. The smaller ones I was told ship better and would be better for your tank. I would say with those combos the achilles would be the most aggressive but again tangs personalities change from fish to fish sooo who knows. If he gets too big and I get my big tank up by then I wouldnt mind holding him.
  11. The problem that I see is that it is always best to add the less aggressive tang first. Since you already have the yellow in there I would try and pull it out. I would then add a larger blue hippo. Let the blue hippo get comfortable and then reintroduce your tang. Like said above it is nice to have a large docile tang to keep the peace. Mine is the sailfin, above someone said the dussimeri(spelling?), Naso is another good choice.
  12. Ich is still in your system. The reason the the ich goes away is because it completed its life cycle. When you add the other tangs dont be suprised to see it reappear. The reason is that tangs dont really come in contact with ich in the wild as they do in captivity. Ich doesnt survive long without a host and with most tangs being avid swimmers, if they do get hit they are long gone when the next generation starts. Makes you wish wholesalers would use copper doesnt it? In my experience though ich has never killed a fish. I had some bad cases prior to my quarentining that is now done with every fish. Velvet is what made me start this though. Even after two months fishless I wouldnt be suprised if I still had some ich in my system but like I said above ich has yet to cause real damage and after a week or so the ich usually resides.
  13. Wow I need to find your secret. I use a sd750 and cant take good pics for the life of me.
  14. Found a rainbow also. Anyone have pokerstar or any other colorful variant?
  15. I am looking for some nice montis- rainbow, reverse sunset, reverse superman, pokerstar, etc. I think I have a lead on sunset and superman at the moment so any other colorful morphs would be great. I would love to trade corals but I could give cash if need be. I have alot of different color digitata, acans, lps, I also have a bunch of purple deaths paly frags I made this weekend, etc. let me know what you are looking for... And I will be looking to pick up in three weekends but if you fragged now its should be healed by then. Im going to eagle pass this weekend and skiing the next...
  16. Ps what kind of camera are you using that is a nice macro shot.
  17. Nassarius is correct. Ceriths are white and stringy somewhat like noodles. The nerites are a completely white dot. These are what Ive noticed from them hatching in my tank. I havent noticed my astrea eggs yet but have what looks to be thousands of little babies... unless they are nerites. The cerith babies are still growing. I may have alot for sale soon lol.
  18. This is in a 180 so take that into consideration. I have a sailfin(very peaceful), purple(moderately aggressive), blue hippo(peaceful), and a powder brown(peaceful) that all get along just fine. Like all fish one yellow can be mean and the next can be peaceful. Its kind of a gamble though. They will "spar" no matter what but I think you have a good chance of them being ok with the sailfin being the first fish in. It will also depend on sizes of fish and the dimensions of your tank. If it is 6 ft that will help and a grown sailfin is more likely to be territorial. I have my tank setup with tangs in mine ie. alot of flow and swimming room. I also have my rock setup so they can swim behind all the rock instead of just a rock wall on the back glass this helps to keep the tangs from seeing each other as much. If I was going to do it I would keep the lights off for a day and get a slightly smaller yellow as once they both feel comfortable I believe yellows are more aggressive from what Ive seen and heard. This will allow for the sailfin to hold its own. Ok enough babbling.... Ok one more thing all my tangs are around 4" besides the blue hippo which is two inches. My next will probably be a flame fin tomini but thats a while down the road.
  19. I used flatworm control and that made them mad. I think it killed quite a bit. Something in my tank eats them and I recently bought a sixline just to make sure. I only see them(flatworms) in my overflow though.
  20. I would never mix a maroon with another species. They are rather aggressive especially as they mature but I remember seeing on reefcentral a couple years back the maroon/perc breeding pair.
  21. Right now I am running 2x250w 20k reeflux with two super actinic vhos. Soon I will be switching to 10k though as I think it is way too blue. So I am thinking 2 250watt 10k xm bulbs with the vho actinics.
  22. Im pretty sure its a little late but if their mouth is gaping and tentacles are deflated and not moving at all, thats when I would pull it out. Shrimp can irritate them quite a bit but I dont think that was the cause.
  23. Like said above it was probably adapting to its enviroment. They inflate themselves with water which gives them the shape you normally see. When they are placed in a new enviroment they dispell that water and in turn inflate with the new tanks water. Somethings to look out for is, it will probably bleach slightly as it is adapting with the new enviroment. If it ever does detach I would check your params as they are upset from one thing or another(yes even a bta). In my experience, as long as they can hide their foot but still be able to extend to the light; they have never moved around my tank. Also remember bubble tips are rather hardy so dont get worried the first time it expells its waste. Also I am a strong believer in feeding, I feed mine quite a bit(every two days) but I would recommend at least once a week. Hope that will get you started.
  24. Exactly why I gave some of mine away last week. I have them on an island but once they start sending out babies I trim them back and give them away.
  25. Oh it will one way or another. Even if I have to encourage it with a razor. lol But seriously I am going to wait to do this until it splits on its own and then I will cut up the clone that way I wont being bothering the "mother" anemone. I lost a rose after the TMAC conference after getting talked into cutting up anemones and dont want that to happen again.
