  1. If long slimy-looking strings are coming out of a mushroom's mouth, can I safely assume that is not a good thing?
  2. I'd be interested in that as well.
  3. Austin Aqua Farms rocks! Matt has an excellent setup! However, you didn't mention Kingfish? Doesn't Kingfish do retail?
  4. I don't have any clams. I never had enough wattage to support a clam. I think I might have anough now tho.
  5. I have a Niger in my tank. He was one of my original fish. He is been fairly peaceful with the other fish. He has never bothered any of my corals or inverts at all.
  6. Dena, what's the height of the unit?
  7. What was the wattage on your T5's?
  8. Brooks, what type of lighting were you using before you went to MH?
  9. Also check with Tye at Clear Aquarium. http://www.clearaquarium.com/site/default.aspx I saw some very nice coraline coated rocks that he has for sale. He is in north Austin.
  10. What type of impurities and pollution? What about pumping it throught the RO/DI unit? or would that remove the salt as well?
  11. Gorgeous shots. Excellent color.
  12. Jeez pgnj, what kind of castle do you live in? I have a 1% deductable and it was $1,430. It's 1% of the insured value of the house or castle, as the case may be.
  13. My wife asked me this question and I did not have a good answer. Perhaps yall can help me out. When I do a water change, I put the tank water I remove down the drain. She asked me if I couldn't recycle that in some way. It seemed to her a waste of salt, which can be a bit pricey. At first, I just said "No" but I couldn't give a valid reason. If you had a large barrel with a couple of hundred pounds of live rock, some powerheads and a light source, could that clean up the water before your next water change allowing you to put that water back into the tank as clean? Am I missing something here?
  14. I am getting a new roof next week, I hope. I am waiting on an insurance check. There are roofers who will do it for what the insurance pays and leave you a bit of change besides.
  15. OK so how much do yall want for a month's rent? and to buy outright?
  16. Sorry about hijacking your thread, jp.
  17. Does anyone have a 48" T5 light fixture at least 216 watts than I can rent for a month? I'd like to try it to see how my corals like it before I buy one.
  18. Thanks Robb. I think that is the way I want to go but I just want to be certain before I spend $300 that could have gone towards a MH fixture. I either want two of the 48" Hagen Glo double light fixtures at 216 watts or the Current Nova Extreme at 324 watts.
  19. If he doesn't buy it, can I rent it for a month? I'd like to try it out and see if it is an improvement over my CF fixture.
  20. Using 48 inch bulbs, wouldn't that be 10 X 54 = 540 watts? Also, in one of the articles that was published on here a month or so ago. the writer said that people were getting too hung up on wattage. What is really critical is (and forgive me if I misremember this) PAR. His article said that light penetration was far more important. Can we get that article reposted?
  21. You're using T5's? 8 X48"?
  22. Also, I have a pickup truck with a lid.
