  1. OK how do you want to do it?
  2. I have a small piece of frogspawn that is not doing very well. I am almost sure it is due to not having enough light. I'll trade it to someone who can nurture it for a small frag. I hate to see these things just waste away. I do live in Hutto, so I could meet you in Round Rock or Pflugerville this afternoon or tomorrow, if I need to. I also have a box of Instant Ocean SS3-50 that will make 3 50 gallon batches. I'd take a soft coral frag or $15 for it. Ric

    Hello There

Welcome to the group. It is nice to see someone who remembers the "old days". I have had marine tanks off and on for 30 years. So much we didn't know back then.
  4. Be sure to get peppermints. there is another shrimp (camel I think) that looks almost exactly like peppermint but they have no interest in eating aiptasia what so ever. I had a hundred aiptasia this last time that I could see and it took three shrimp took about 2 weeks to clean it up.
  5. I still prefer peppermint shrimp. The "chemical" approach can kill things accidently and it's hard to get to the ones you can't see. I have had very good success with the shrimp. If I get tired of them, I just neglect to feed my Niger trigger for a few days and he cleans them up.

    Aquatek

The people who work there use the second pronunciation.
  7. Sorry for the damage you guys sustained. We got a half inch of rain per the weatherbug but no hail here in the Hippo Plex. I do have a question tho. How long would a tank survive without power? Several hours? A day?

    **** Crabs!

If I notice any more zoas missing, crabs will be on the endangered list in my reef.

    **** Crabs!

Are y'all sure crabs are necessary for a healthy tank? I had a frag of blue zooanthids that were perched on a shell. They were doing nicely as of 8:00 am this morning. NOW they are gone and a red legged crab is walking around in the shell. The little blues are nowhere to be found. I have a strong urge to introduce that crab to Mr Hammer.
  10. OK makes sense. I just never did it that way. Thanks.
  11. GKarshens, I am sure this topic has come up before and and it will again with each batch of new people. Where do you get the SeaChem? LFS or do you order online?
  12. Wish I could figure out how to make mine not gurgle and sputter.
  13. CoolBreeze, what did you say at the meeting at your house you were doing with the waste from your RO/DI unit?
  14. Take a look: http://www.eternalreefs.com/
  15. Capn, sorry to hear about tank problems. In that chart you gave us the link for, it shows that nearly all products were high in nitrates, phosphates, and ammonia. I don't wish to appear dense, but isn't that the stuff we are trying to get rid of by doing water changes in the first place?
  16. So using that chart, the SeaChem Reef Salt would be the best as it is highest in the 3 categories? I am currently using Red Sea Coral Pro on advice from someone that does not seem to be a club member however he had really nice corals. I bought a couple of frags from him. So we got charts which are possibly inaccurate. Any one have any personal opinions about which is better? Stories? Anything?
  17. A few days ago there was an opportunity on the forum to buy Gal buckets of Reef Crystal salt. This is made by Instant Ocean, isn't it? People have told me to stay away from Instant Ocean salt. I will be purchasing a new bucket of something in a month or so, so I'd like to read some discussion about everyone's favorite salt. Which is the best and why?
  18. I am not sure I qualify as a 'wiser head'. However, IMHO unless the fish you mentioned are exceptionally large, I would think that was a very light bioload for a 140 gal tank even without a sump, etc.
  19. It was a pretty good movie.
