Thanks bud :) If you ever need to QT a fish I think I got a place for him!

  2. Cant we just be simple and have separate containers? Not saying you would do this but.... say you buy a 10 gallon tank and section it off to hold ATO water. turns out when you sectioned it you scootched it back a bit, giving yourself 6 gallon DT or 5.5 gallons DT. I say stick with separate containers so you can prove the size on each one.
  3. tank capacity is 5 gallon,s sump capacity is 1/2 of DT. I don't think you can take a 6 gallon tank and make it AIO but I dunno, perhaps you can could the AIo area as "sump" and get by? I figured sump had to be another vessel all together and the AIO couldn't be more than 5 gal.
  4. My girlfriend LOVES her eheim aquastyles 4. I cant wiat for the contest to start to get it wet!!!
  5. I do plan to use bacteria to cycle the tank... I got a FREE sample from seachem rep the other day. Since mine was free I'd like to see no one lose budget $$$ over buying bacteria... keep it fair and fish happy!
  6. Even though I just bought my tank tonight I will not add water until the start date. To prove my start date I will be pulling up a thread on my Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (This thread) making a statement post then photographing my tablet sitting inside the tank showing the thread and new statement post. Figured that would be a fair easy way to prove its starting at the right time and no esacjack it is not a Mr. Aqua tank its a tank I just got a nice deal on trading and talking up a storm Edit: not going to lie, I did dump tap water into the tank as soon as I got home to test for leaks and make sure the filter worked good. It will be drained tomorrow after a 24 hour test and then will sit dry until the start date. Also, are we allowed to dry scape the tank and prepare everything ahead of time as long as the tank stays dry? or do we have to just keep all supplies off the the side in a box until start date and start with a glass cage? I was planning on scaping during the holidays and leaving it dry until start date.
  7. My girlfriends new tank we picked up tonight. Will be our entry to the contest She will have all say on the tank, I'll make sure everything lives and is grouped safely.
  8. This is the very reason I will be going AIO, i can get a pump and light and not have it cost against my equipment budget...otherwise I would be making a sweet custom acrylic pico tank...but with how the rules are it is a deterrent to anything but an AIO. that is kinda why I thought if you don't get a AIO you could maybe take the remaining balance and move it toward equipment, but that didn't seem to go over too well. i think if you get an AIO it should be under $150. if you piece together one you should be able to carry the surplus to equipment. Or how about...no matter what your tank costs (AIO or build from scratch or just a glass/acrylic box) you subtract it from the $150 tank budget and the remainder becomes a "slush fund", which makes it a bit more fair. ex: Joe buys an AIO for $120 leaving him $30 to add to any of the other budgets as he sees fit ex #2: sally buys a 4 gallon fluval for $75 leaving her $75 to add to any other budget she seems necessary ex #3: Ignacio buys acrylic and builds his own for $25 (I am sure you get the point) this allows a leveling of the playing field from the start but still allows for freedom to "pick your own canvas" so to speak Discuss. +1 to this

Yeah, mine were stalled then started again today or yesterday. Usually they appear on my phone...

  10. what if I buy a tank setup for 100 then sell off uneeded parts? do I get to add that back to my budget? What if I end up selling for more than 100 in parts? Do I increase my budget?
  11. Don't forget to place your Reefcleaners order! Its shipping Monday

  12. That falls back to fmv pricing. Say it's a birds nest. Past frags sold for 10-20 so I say take 15 off. If you bought it for 5 then take 5 off but when pulling from one tank to the next do fmv. Basically if I get a deal I shouldn't be punished $$$ wise to make it fair... It was for sale and I bought it just like anyone else could have I guess, in my eyes it was fair game to all I just got it first;) if I missed a deal and someone else hit it I wouldn't have a problem with that either. Just not a sore loser, I like the competition!
  13. If rather not have preset prices. Getting deals is part of the fun.
  14. Leak test passed! Time to move the system inside, not sure how im gonna do that yet.

Drained the system, metal stand plus two tanks is not gonna happen solo. Gonna try and build some skids to get it across the garage and into the house.

Ian I'm going to throw a rotten shrimp at you next time I see you!

  17. I vote any tank under 5 gallon is possible. If you want to go AIo to try and "expand" your budget then do it. They all have pluses and draw backs.
  18. Got all the PVC glued for the manifold. Soon as its dry I get to leak test the system!

  19. Shout out to Brian.srock and o0zarkawater! Thanks for helping me move the 90 over!!

  20. Gotta move the 90 gallon onto the other stand, hopefully I can find a buddy :)

Capt. I've done all my tanks solo but after picking up 3 75 gallon tanks by myself and carrying them through the house my back is a little sore. Plus the stand has new paint that I scratched once, rather not again. lol!

  21. Great, can't sleep again. But atleast my sump is now built and my BML is rewired.

You need to head over to the chiropractor. If its really hurting and affecting everything just give it a shot. Once they put the electrodes on my back I felt like a new man.

  22. When working with silicone you can dip your finger, spoon, or caulk spreading tool in vinegar to get a lot smoother glide and prevent the silicone from getting tacky and stuck to the tool. Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
