  1. Yes it is ok to do everything you can without getting tank wet. From what I understand
  2. Neg. I just did rss txt feeds and get notice that way. Set it up after that short URL update and never removed it when tapatalk got fixed, should I not remove it?
  3. Just repair and deduct original tank amount without repair since that's the price you would pay if it wasn't broke
  4. Probably just apple doesn't want to run certain things and we have to find a work around. It's why I have a galaxy tab instead of iPad. I see status on all devices I use.
  5. Seems a new thread about issues started tonight, dragging attention to it via this thread. Mods/admin please move/merge/assist when able http://www.austinreefclub.com/topic/25202-status/
  6. Great idea! I've been wanting my scuba certs for awhile. Perhaps instead of the next couple fishing trips on my boat I'll put the gas money to lessons! Now who's got the awesome pics?!

Baby green fungia helmet. Taken with iphone4
  8. So what happens if we pick up live rock from the free section does that count against our budget if we can prove the rock and sand was free from someone breaking down a tank?
  9. Wish someone in town sold dry tonga, gonna have to get $150 worth from BRS... wish I could see it befor buying!

This one brian? http://spsholic.com/entry/MRkangTank I'm hoping to mimic it slightly with the rock design, I love that free floating cliff.

I'll be using zipties, epoxy and glue. Possibly I'll buy some acrylic rods and thread/bend them to secure certain areas.

  10. Congrats to belinda for winning the 2.5 specc raffle from RCA!

Thanks Chris! Now we can get in on the pico contest!!!

  11. So are we defining this as <6 or <5? because from the other thread I thought it was 5 gallons and under. meaning something like the ecopico listed at 5.1 is not suppose to go in. If they list it as 5 gallons and it truly holds more is a different situation.
  12. everyone click the report button on KimP's reply. Add to your reply that you would really like to see it become a sticky on its own section. All our reports will hit the mod eyes and admin eyes!
  13. I know one mod voted no and moved on without reading this post. Try if you want:) I'm fine with it here
  14. slowly addding water to the new build. If I dont have to drain and reshim I'll be good to go!

      esacjack

and what are you shimming exactly?

  15. Fed the tank and saw a 7 inch bristle worm come out to eat.

  16. I guess im getting at, why should I go buy a timer to use for 6 months then once the contest is over hook my light into the apex. Now I'm left with a 6 month old timer that I never really needed.
  17. I thought this was the point of the contest. To be able to maintain a small system without relying on high dollar equipment and really testing your husbandry and reef keeping abilities. There are tons of people who cant afford a apex and can keep a system just fine. If you cant afford what you need, you shouldnt be joining the contest anyway. No offense. Im not trying to argue at all and I hope I dont ruffle any feathers but I thought this was the whole point of the contest. Your missing my point, I want to use one outlet as a timer and deduct the cost if a timer from my budget. I'm not using the whole apex just an outlet and taking the appropriate budget hit
  18. Also timers at biglots are 3-4 bucks. Easy to fit on the budget when we leave or get home way after lights should be on or off.... I don't want to constantly have an uneven light time on such a small tank. The fish don't need the stress and algae needs to be controlled. Would hate to lose critters due to light being on to long and cooking the tank or growing algae... This could just be cosy defend safety if the tank and we shouldn't loose anything lol!!
  19. If I use it for a timer ill take timer budget off. I don't think the whole price should be counted because I'm not using the whole thing. No ph pen, mp10 control no auto feeder no dimming no auto water change if I use a 5 dollar timer or 500 dollar apex I'm still just turning my light on an off, why's it matter if my apex does if it not? I'm still losing budget money but not having to spend more real money. If I have to go buy cheap parts and waste real money to do the same thing I can already do ill have to rethink doing the contest. I'm on a budget can't waste money rebuying equip.
  20. You should have to budget for timers. That is part of this being a independent system and not fair for the people having to budget for it. I'm fine with that ill budget a timer and use my apex to do it that's fair right? I still take the budget hit but I want all my tanks on the apex.
  21. so what happens if the pico light and such are hooked to my apex for timers and everything? I was going to use it to run my ato also.
  22. coral is part of livestock I thought. $150 tank $150 equip $150 livestock(coral/fish/cuc)
