FarmerTy
My motivation is when my frag rack has reached full capacity and I keep buying frags so I'm forced to glue them down. The solution is simple Ty, BUY MORE FRAGS!Did you forget I don't just have a frag rack... I have this? Your plan is going to put me in the poor house to fill that thing up.
FarmerTy
Its on! Got me this combo yesterday thanks to @briansrock. Took some shots and then realized, I got a whole lot to learn.

Awesome stuff Ty! So many colors, I really like that first photo. Looking forward to the DSLR goodness. I've tried messing with the Rebel XTi my wife has, but I think I need better lenses which i'm not quite ready to drop the cash on yet haha.
Gig 'em @ NDstructible
Better than my shots. My first (and only) attempt looked like a smurf bomb exploded in my tank after I dumped windex in the water. [emoji30]

FarmerTy
Three salvageable macros out of a ton and one 35mm shot of the gang. So right now I'm banking on just pure volume and luck. [emoji16]
+brian.srock
I think your whole build thread is pure volume with 1 or 2 salvageable posts.Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk 2

+brian.srock
It was too easy...But I hope you can tell the difference in how the shots are coming out and start to memorize the settings you had for each shot.

That's quite the difference with the phone and the dslr. I need to just write down the settings as my memory is like a sieve.

FarmerTy
That last photo is incredible Ty!Thank you! Apparently taking pictures of a million moving fish is way easier than me taking pictures of a stationary coral really close. Go figure! Haha. jolt
Oh, did I spy a red anacropora mixed in those shots?? Nice Question: are you using their blue filter with that port hole?
FarmerTy
Oh, did I spy a red anacropora mixed in those shots?? Nice [emoji4] Question: are you using their blue filter with that port hole? Thanks! Its more reddish orange but yes, anacropora. It set me back a pretty penny but its nice to have another source of orange in the tank without it having to be a digitata. No blue filter on the porthole. I set my kelvin as high as I can, which on the D5300 I can do max around 8000-9000k to offset some of the blue. Then I post process to match what I see in real life. I'm just using a simple app on my phone to post process right now but will be getting Lightroom as that is what most suggest on the forums to post-process.I'll post examples of the same shot later today if I have time to show how it looks at each step.
