Ich isn't as bad as it used to be. Many say that if the fish is stressed it's ich if the fish doesn't eat it's ich, everything is ich now days. But ich is easily treated there are good medications out for this now days. But a qt tank is deff a big help in this. And it's easy to set up one provided you have the space.

Man thats too bad, i hate to see fish die.. with your tank being fairly new i wouldn't think that the ich would have come from the new setup. the fish mite have already had it when you picked it up and there is a good possibility it had it before RC, i try and get the fish from them when they are still in the bags when they get the order in. they seem to do better to me, instead of being acclimated a couple times in the same week. but anyway im sorry about the loss.. =\

Hey andy how fast do these grow? and what kind of lights are required? i have a 250w mh that blasts my 34g solana for 12hrs a day will this be to much light?

Its possible, i would take the h2o to the LFS and have it tested to see what the levels are. then at least you will know if you could rule it out, or if so then you will know that maybe the problem. and then you will know what to do to fix it. or know to keep looking. Matt

maybe do just a high end zoa and zoo tank and maybe some high end mushrooms. it wouldnt tank very much to get that little tank started. i was going to do that with my 7.5g before i gave it up.

when i had shrimp i dosed it but just cause of the molt process. and the fact that they need it. but other than that if water changes are regular then you really dont need it. but yea id do a 50% water change.

Im very opinionated on this subject i think that for every 20g 1 fish just to give them some room to do there thing. when i had my 90g i only had 4 fish and 2 were paired clowns and a pink spot goby and a sixline wrasse. and i thought it was perfect amount for that size tank. Ya i wanted a couple tangs and some other fish but i myself didn't feel that i had the room to make them all feel comfortable. think about this have you ever had to share a room with a brother? that's 2 people in about 300sf (at least mine and my brothers room) area and there is always fights! now imagine even 4 people tring to live in the same area, and btw the fish cant leave the room like i could.. just my thoughts Matt

Hrmm what are the iodine levels and has it been dosed? it could cause this. high levels of iodine will wipe out a tank fast and lps corals will show first signs. i had this happen to a fungia plate coral and it was cause the tank got cold well actually it was in the middle of a tank swap and i lost alot of corals to cold and it happend in 12hrs. but if temp is good i would check iodine and mag levels.

If i have my FOWLR tank up and running id be in for some fishies. Matt

Im checking interest in my purple deaths i have 100+ on a small rock and am finding them all over the tank as of late. they are dark purple now as they get blasted with 250wt MH for 12hr a day but in the spots where they have jumped and are shaded they are lighter almost a royal purple. if i dont get enough interest then i wont touch the main colony and have like 10 in random spots in the tank where they have jumped and landed. 3 for $20 i dont really have a nice pic of them but i have a pic of my little zoa garden that i will tentatively post for the time being. the lights just came on so i will post more pics when they wake up. thanks for looking Matt
