I'm still interested in the rkl I'm in round rock. But still wanted to know what model and what you have with it, if any upgrades and stuff like that? And I will take the hawkfish, and wanted to know about the wrasse in the pics, is that a wrasse?
i dont really notice it is the tank. i do see it in the fuge a thin layer over my mud. but i figure its mud from the salt drying so whats it hurt.. but as far as in the display i dont see it but i have alot of flow and it would be hard for it to settle.
get some more cuc when you do it again. get a ton of margarita snails and a few mexican turbos, i would also suggest some blue and red legged hermits. you can pretty much sell the snails back to the store for pretty close to what you bought them for... the algae feeds on light so the going dark will work. phosphate remove is a must if your only going to do small water changes the Hair Algae feeds off it and the light. the tank can go dark for several days and still be good. the sun doesnt always shine on the ocean. you can beat it doing this i guarantee it.
Note: i have seen this work.. i have seen this work w/o removing the hair algae. i have seen it die back and end up in dead clumps.
How many skimmers do you have? sheesh.. lol j/k i think the hight would be ok. its where it would go that im not sure of.how does it mount on the biocube?
Go dark.. move fish and corals to another tank. and go dark for a week then maybe 2. that will kill it. do mad water changes like 40-50%, use some sort of phosban reactor use phos buster and kill it. just borrow a 20gl or something that you can hang a back pack skimmer on and go dark on the other tank. if you have as much as you make out thats what i would do.
Does anyone know how long the leads on a 250watt icecap ballast can be? i want to mount the ballast in the bottom on the stand vs in the canopy im just worried about loosing wattage with longer leads. i have 6 foot leads on it now.
A lot of the reason i did what i did was to have the best of both worlds, lots of shelves and lots of over hangs but still the openess that i was looking for for good flow and still have somewhat of a wall type scape for more of a part of a large reef not really a small stand alone reef, also wanted to hide the overflow as best i could.
you just have to work at it. it took me 3 times re aqua-scaping till i finally liked it. the only time i liked it lol. depending on what you will keep, caves and overhangs are a good idea. and shelves are also a great idea to put diff corals at diff levels in the tank depending on their light and flow needs.
Doseing Vodka will not remove hair algae. i dose vodka and i still have it. it hasnt spread but it is growing. best method is manual removal. If you do dose vodka doseing Biodigest is highly recommended.
i run Chemi-Pure in my carbon reactor. its not the elite though. its been in their for 3 months i guess. maybe i need to change it.. thanks for the tip. i did notice the Cyano about the same day that i found my condy dead, i wonder if its coincidence.
