I need to find someone that'll 3d print me some probe holders and hose clips. Thanks for the idea ty. Those holders are legit.
I've got a printer as well, and have been considering having a stock of parts that Premium Members can pick from incentives for renewing...

Hi folks - my joining this group is long overdue! But better late than never. I am a professor at UT Austin (Department of Integrative Biology) studying genomics of coral adaptation. More info (and links to papers) here: http://matzlab.weebly.com/
Please feel free to contact me if you have difficult questions about coral biology, and especially if you observe something unusual about your corals.
cheers
Misha Matz
Welcome! We're glad you found the time to drop by. I saw your request for mille's, please don't be shy if there is anything the club can do to help you and your team out with their research!

If I'd know the issues the software upgrade would bring I definitely would have waited. Thanks for your patience guys, I think it's starting to stabilize.

LOL, glad it's finally working again, would have hated for Ty to spend time with his family. (They actually funded me to get it working again).

Yep, they're still broken and taking a lot of flak for it. They've pushed out two incremental fixes but neither has restored functionality, and they won't respond to my (or most other forums' support tickets). Hopefully they're working on it, but for now it's out of my control.
*** Update
Looks like they pushed an alternate solution to try to workaround a 4.2 issue. I have installed this workaround that uses the old plugin format.
Please let me know if things are working for you now.

New plugin installed. Can any tapatalk users confirm whether this fixed their issues?

Sorry guys, out of my control. This is a known issue with Tapatalk and the site upgrade we did to 4.2. (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tapatalksupport/ipb-4-2-beta-doesn-t-work-with-tapatalk-t36235-s10.html)
I'll try rolling back to the previous version to see if we can regain the functionality we had.

Which Theme are you using? (at very bottom of the site there is a drop-down to select a Theme). These are all customized and some have not been updated to the latest version.

Howdy folks. Sorry for the downtime, but we were updating the site to the latest version of software (4.2). It has lots of new features, so feel free to check them out. As always, please flag problematic posts or PM me or a Moderator if you see any issues with the site.

Physical removal, urchins, and water changes were the key to reversing it's progress for me.

I live down this way as well, but will be traveling a lot over the next few weeks.
What specifically are you want to set up? Have you planned out the tank and plumbing at all yet? If you post pictures of the tank I'm sure we can all help you with the design before you're ready to actually assemble everything. Having a plan helps immensely, and lets you know what parts to have on hand.

Man, I had no clue you'd been going through all that. It sounds like a nightmare! That all said, the new tank is looking great, and I'm happy you were able to keep as much alive as you did.
Also sounds like your girlfriend is a keeper. I don't know if my wife would have accepted our living room in such a state for 3 months!

Nice! So the goal was to have a setup with no visible pumps or lights, just the tank and critters? And the solution was to ceiling-mount the lights a significant distance away? That's awesome! Looks like you had to engineer just the right angle to get the light in over the front glass of the tank. Is it warm when you walk through the light beams in front?

Thread rebirth!
I've been running only the BML LEDs on my tank for about 4 years now and have substantial growth of coraline (4+ colors) throughout my tank. I think maybe its more nutrient level than LED?

Excellent start! Glad you got to bring some of your old corals along. I love that Walt Disney!

I generally feed frozen foods to my tank. Every month or so I'll make up my food blend and freeze it into cubes in an ice tray (using RODI water). It makes it easy when I have someone watching house or if my wife and son need to feed the tanks. They know the big tank gets 3 cubes, the small tank 1, etc.
Because I have a peninsula tank, if you just drop the cubes in the tank the wavemaker pushes them against the overflow and all the food goes down the drain as the cubes melt. This left us having to manually melt them in a cup and then pour them in, which was forgotten often enough after melting but before pouring to be a problem. This allows me to drop the cubes in it and as they melt they do a gradual feed from the far end of the tank.

The entire ring is printed as one piece, mesh included. Since the body has a low fill rate (it's not solid plastic), it floats. I'll be modifying the original design to include a ring to either tie a line on or I'll print a clip that attaches to it to hold it to the side of the aquarium. It's a user called shorny's design, I just printed it.

I've added 3D printing, but honestly it was primarily to make parts for my other hobbies. If you're interested in something that is relatively plug and play I recommend the Wanhao I3 Duplicator Plus. Assembly was really just attaching 4 screws and plugging in a few cables. I had my first print turn out flawlessly less than 30 mins after unboxing. There is a bit of a learning curve, but this thing is awesome.

This was the first tank thing I printed(a floating fish feeder):

There are also dyes that soak into the PVC (I believe RIT dyes are one of them). Or check out our sponsor FlexPVC as well.

Yeah, the green toadstool is actually due to be cut back, it has crowded out many neighbors. These pics show the small side.
