  1. As most of you know last year we were able to run a discounted quarterly salt buy. This meant that not only did we have to coordinate a quarterly buy (track quantities, names, etc.), but that you also had to project just how much you would need for the next several months. It never failed that you would need salt in the meantime, so for 2013 we're going to try something new.

Gary and the crew at the Aquadome have come up with the following offer to ARC members - an ongoing special price on salt mixes. These prices will be offered as long as Aquadome's cost remains unchanged, they may periodically change. They should be better than what you can find online while providing the convenience of local pickup (without shipping costs).

The current rates will be maintained in a pinned thread in Aquadome's sponsor forum here. The Aquadome will do its best to keep quantities of each on hand. The Coralife shouldn't ever be a problem, but it would always be best to call ahead to make sure that they have sufficient quantities in stock.

As far as I know Jake and the gang at RCA will still be running the semi-annual salt buy in June and December, details of such will be maintained in the Group Order and RCA forums.

Thanks to all of our local fish stores for continuing to to try offer our members the best prices around!

    The current rates are:

    • Coralife 200g boxes - $39.00
    • RedSea Coral Pro 175g bucket - $62
    • Fluval Red Sea Salt 165g bucket - $52 (if you're not familiar with this one Gary says it's a fast dissolving reef salt specifically developed for Hagen by the originators of Oceanic Salt)

Prices will be updated here so that you should know the current rate at any time. As always, please contact the Aquadome to verify availability before making the drive.

    Thanks Aquadome!

  3. Jason and the gang at Premium Aquatics have renewed their ARC Sponsorship for 2013. They continue to be a great source for all of your dry goods and equipment, and are expanding their livestock section daily! In addition to supporting the club, Premium Aquatics is a sponsor of C4 and will be providing goodie bags for all of our attendees!

Be sure to follow their sponsor forum for the latest discounts and sales, and let's all take a moment to thank them for their continued support!

  4. The crew at AquaSD have renewed their ARC Sponsorship for 2013. One major change is that ARC Premium Members will now receive a 5% discount on all purchases! Be sure to check out their fantastic coral shots in their regular inventory updates! The discount code will be posted shortly in their sponsor forum.

Let's all take a moment to thank them for their continued support!

  5. Mike, do you have one yourself? If so, where did you purchase it from? I don't mind not having hermits and when you say decorative shrimp, you mean smaller ones like sexy shrimp right? I have a skunk cleaner that I want to keep safe.

as kingjames420 said, your skunk cleaner should be safe. Smaller shrimp like sexies can definitely be a target. Every fish is a bit different so you might get with that leaves everything else alone.

I don't have one (yet), but it's still a very cool fish.

  6. Great fish, make sure you have a sand bed that isn't coarse as they like to bury themselves and will hurt themselves if you have rough aragonite. They're also not completely reef safe (hermits and other small inverts like decorative shrimp).
