Don't make any major system changes like turning off a skimmer before you leave...
Making any major changes right before a trip has burned me a few times. Heck, even minor ones like a big water change have gotten me (forgot to plug ATO pump back in after it). Doh!
Sounds like the tube from the collection cup is your solution.

Mark Callahan did this on his move to Tennessee and will be presenting about this very topic at C4 this Saturday.

Flow, good lighting, and feed. It can take some time to recover from what it went through so as long as it's alive and not shrinking over time then I would keep things steady and let it recover.

I run across micro brittles occasionally and have several asterinas. That what you're looking for?

If anyone has a syringe with the thumb ring like pictured in the link mike listed, can I get one?
I only have ordinary syringes and wanted to find some with thumb rings, but wasn't willing to order just a syringe online.
Sorry about the thread-jack!
$2.35 on Amazon with free shipping
*Several available on ebay as well, search for "Control Syringe"

There will also be other ways to win tickets, so be sure to visit the site periodically to maximize your chances!
have these chances happened?
There will be some additional opportunities at the event itself, so keep your eyes and ears open!

Great write-up and idea, in fact Two LIttle Fishies started selling a commercial version a few years ago. This is of course cheaper.
I have about 20 of the syringes available as well (the vet gives me a ton to use for an injection my dog gets).

Let's all take a moment to thank our newest sponsor, Aquaculture Ranch!
Aquaculture Ranch is a sustainable mariculture facility located just southwest of Austin, TX. They start by having Live Rock hand collected in Florida and imported direct to their facility in the Hill Country. This rock has some of the most amazing examples of bio-diversity you've seen, covered in Caribbean soft and hard corals and fauna that are unavailable anywhere else in the world. The ranch maintains just under 10,000 gallons of marine tanks which allows them ample space to study and grow a variety of display and utilitarian macroalgae. They focus on taking advantage of sustainable reef-keeping methodologies to provide their customers with hand-manicured rock that will be the highlight of your display tank.
ARC Premium Members receive a 10% discount on all purchases through the Ranch.
Let's all take a moment to say thanks for the support!

What have you added to "cure" the rock? Most dry rock I've seen has been very clean and without adding existing tank water, bacteria, or a food source I wouldn't expect there to be much going on.

Just a reminder guys that if you PLAN TO BRING FRAGS TO SWAP and NEED SPACE TO SETUP A TANK you MUST contact me to reserve table space. With our vendor space maxed out we can't guarantee that you'll have room otherwise!
And remember, the frag swap is open to everyone (not just Premium Members), so bring your frag tank and frags and help share the hobby and your favorite corals!

Interesting article about what it took to keep the animals alive in the aftermath of sandy.

PM'd about this, it's got (2) like-new Lumatek adjustable ballasts

What's the delivery day again?
-
Yeah, I built one last spring. Don't follow the instructions on that site, several of the parts don't fit together as they describe and it ultimately leaks. Ask me for tips on how it ultimately came together if interested.

Running the tank sideways, how do you keep the water from spilling out?
Looks like a fantastic setup.- 2

I've got
weird thing I noticed, which isnt a bad thing. As a regular member I can only "like" so many posts per day, however once I reach that limit I can still go onto tapatalk with my phone and continue to like posts that I like.
I would hope this doesnt get changed since its not hurting anything but just thought I'd share.
You really should be getting a kickback from Tapatalk....
Fixed your post but seriously, dont change it? I like to be able to like the posts that are helpful in my mind
No intention to change it.

Total: $120 - 12 (10%) = $108

I love the clown tang but don't know anyone who has kept one alive more than a few months. I love my purple tang, but once my yellow died (they grew up together) he wouldn't tolerate the addition of any younger yellows.
One of my favorites now is a gorgeous Desjardini Sailfin that I got from the Aquadome. Here's a pic Jake took of it at the last meeting:
I'd add a +1 to the blonde Naso that Tim mentioned.
Regardless of what you choose, make sure to quarantine and have some kind of ich treatement plan (UV, medicated food, etc.). As much as I love the tangs they seem to add all sorts of parasite issues that are much easier to anticipate than to deal with after.

What time are you going to be needing staff and volunteers to be there?
I'll be sending out a notice to staff and volunteers shortly.
For everyone else the doors open at 9 am and the first speaker goes on at 9:45. We'll start issuing wristbands about 8:30 am, so get there early to get dibs on the best exhibitor deals and to grab a seat as we're expecting a full house!
We've got a full exhibitor room, a great selection of door prizes, and a great lunch buffet so you don't have to leave the hotel and deal with traffic and risk missing any of the great presentations. There will also be a few additional ways to earn door prize coupons. The first prize drawing is at 11:10, so get up early and don't miss out on your chances to win!
In addition, any student high school or younger gets in free with a valid school id. Hard to believe we're just two weeks away!

I'll give you a buzz the next time I get a few, but Georgetown can be quite a trip for something so small. I'll try to time it with our next monthly meeting.
