  1. I just bought a JBJ wavemaker. Does anyone have any advice/hints/tips or tricks about this device? I have a 72g bowfront. How powerful should the pumps be? I currently have available 2 K-2's and a couple of Seio P530's. I am beginning to think I need more water movement. My return pump is mag 9.5. Where would the optimum place for the pumps be? Should they both be bottom, top, or middle? Should one be top and the other middle or bottom? Any help at all would be appreciated. I just wish I could afford the Tunze wave thingy.
  2. You can try autohub.com as well.
  3. The GLO fixture only holds two bulbs. Buy 2 fixtures and put actinics in one and daylight in the other. You can use a timer or timers to turn on/shut off them however it suits your fancy.
  4. I am old enough to remember TV going from only black and white to color - a major enhancement. When movies went from VHS or Beta to DVD it was a major enhancement. When TV went to HD, it was another major enhancement. The current 3d technology is NOT a major enhancement, IMHO. It can be distracting cause the 3d sweet spot is so small and the images outside are fuzzy or slightly doubled. Frankly, I think that is why we get headaches. I don't think the current level of 3d technology adds anything major to a movie.
  5. do you have to wear glasses in the IMAX version? I thought the 3-d was right out of the 50's. The glasses are plastic instead of cardboard but that is the only significant improvement. I got the same old headache I always get with the 3d technology. The story itself was a remake of a Jimmy Stewart movie from the 60's named "Broken Arrow". It had a few new wrinkles but still the same movie. Did they HAVE to make the blue people sound and act like Hollywood Indians? They even used the same bow and arrow technology. That was the most disappointing part. I did like the movie but I think I'll go see the non 3d version with the wife.
  6. Dave, you are WAY too young to have senior moments.
  7. If I can't get it to pull any skimmate, I am going to drag you and Mark over here to trouble shoot.
  8. spiny box puffer ate all mine. I should mention it also ate all but the largest of my snails and crabs.
  9. I took Dave and Marks sage advice and bought the Vertex In10 rated for 100 gallons. I got the JBJ wavemaker at the same time.
  10. Nice pics. What kind of camera is it?
  11. How big is the footprint? There isn't just a whole lot of room in my sump. The page I am seeing says it is 15 inches by 11 inches. Is that about right?

    Timers

Coralife makes two timers that work very well as long as you don't get any water on them. They are available at most any pet store, even Petco or Petsmart.
  13. I can come get it out? Are you selling it? How much?
  14. I am stumped. Which skimmer do you think will do the best job? Is one easier to mod than another?
  15. I have a 72 gallon bowfront using t5's. My chiller is is $10 clip-on fan from Walmart. My evaporation during the summer is about 2 gallons/day. Right now it is less than 1/2 gallon/day. During the summer, my tank runs 78 to about 81 F.
  16. I don't know why you think Taylor is so far away from everything and everybody. It is only 7 miles from me. We shop at the HEB there all the time. Happy Holidays!
  17. I had a spiny box puffer that ate all my crabs and snails. I failed to do the research.
  18. Mine perked up after I started adding Kalkwasswer and Aragonite to my top off water reservois (not together).
  19. Has anyone seen the videos of the giant jellyfish they are seeing off the coast of Japan? Try this one. [/url]
  20. From Mama's post, I'd guess the Blue Velvet is out for me. I have some flatworms and my 6-line wrasse is co-existing with them peacefully. I don't seem to have a lot of them but they do seem to be multiplying a bit. Do these things cause problems? If so, what kind?
