  1. Just another thought...If you have a big enough colony and are still worried about light. You could frag a single polyp and see how it does higher up and use it to experiment with. This would also let you compare color and growth rate.
  2. Hi Chuck, welcome to the group. My larger tank hasn't been setup a year or I might volunteer to host some things for a while. What is the tenth picture on your post? It is pink with some purple and a bright green mouth.
  3. I've got 3 different types and keep them low to medium placement in my tank. I have them with medium flow. To me medium flow is what most of my lps seem comfortable with (which might not be medium flow for SPS guys). I don't know much about different strains of duncans, but that is on my to do list. If someone knows a good site for information on strains please post it.
  4. Thanks for giving your time and keeping this site up for us to use. It is a great resource.

  5. There is a really nice used one at RCA. Comes with furniture like stand and hood. PVC bottom, Calfo overflow, and starfire glass. I think it is a 125G for $2500, but it is a very nice tank and a must see if you can afford the $$. I think it belongs/belonged to ACampbell.
  6. You have to keep an eye on their website. They get nice stuff but it always sells out quick (prob because they have good prices too).
  7. Good catch Dustin. Pretty sure he didn't mean 14 for the package (as the holders were 4 @ 20 each). But if you did put me in line .
  8. I'd be interested in getting in on a group by for one also.
  9. Zarathustra thank you for confirming the details. I really do appreciate it and so does my wallet .
  10. I'm still not seeing icons change in my rss feed after I open a thread. On a somewhat related note, I was having ongoing problems with firefox crashing every 3 or 4 days. I tried the standard things, but finally did a full reinstall. I was also hoping something might be off with my local settings and were interfereing with the rss feed, but after a fresh install the rss is still not updating.
  11. Reef roids is where the discussion was mostly centered. We can definitely discuss other supplements too (reef chili was briefly mentioned above). Marine Depot lists their quantity and price for reef roids at 22.99 and 4 oz. Zarathustra2 bought some from Aquatek for 19.99, but I'm unclear about the quantity that he/she bought. I just like to know the price comparison if it is something I will be repeatedly buying and if it is cheaper or close to the same price to buy locally.
  12. Just to make sure I am reading this correctly, Aquatec sells a 40 gram container for 19.99? Marine depot would be a steal if this is correct as their container of 4oz = 113 grams.
  13. Just curious, how much is it at Aquatec and what amount (ounces)?
  14. I haven't used it but have done a fair amount of reading on it (I am getting it on the next Marine Depot order). My understanding is that reef roids has a mix of mostly protiens and lipids. The mix helps to make sure they get balanced nutrition and vitamins from a variety diet. The reef roids mix, from my understanding, is supposed take some of the guess work out of which corals need what kinds of food. Also, it is made into really fine particles making mixing it in water realitively easy. The main thing I like is everyone that has used them seems to have had great results. The only other thing that I have read about that seems to be in the same league is reef chili. I don't know if anyone has done any comparisons.
  15. Robb, sorry my comment wasn't about what you were saying. It was aimed toward the comment Jurgy said "Every time I make it down that way I take it with me on the plane and just check my bags."
  16. I wasn't trying to knock the idea with my post above. I think it is a great idea if it can be done. I just don't want anyone stuck at the airport and have to turn over their corals to someone who knows nothing about corals.
  17. Do Airlines let you carry bags of coral and water? I know sometimes they let things slip and some airports are more relaxed on the rules, but I think they are all supposed to limit water in containers to 3 oz.
  18. I'd like to pick up 4 or 5 of these guys. Can you PM me more information when and where to pick them up?
  19. Thanks for the input. Seems like two different ways of looking at it. Both have their merits. It is probably better for me to do it in town as I'm trying to keep costs somewhat down right now. Any thoughts on some of the local dive shops? Is there a website like ARC for Austin divers?
  20. I've been wanting to take some classes for a while and get a feel for it. Any advise for someone who doesn't know to much? What are some of the better places to learn in Austin?
  21. Welcome back to the States. Thanks for your service!!! I may be hitting you up for a kenya tree. Not sure if I want to got to Armenia for one though (check your location).
  22. That is weird that it works for you and not for me. I updated my RSS feed the day the site was change (the old RSS feed was not working). I updated the feed again just to make sure I didn't do something silly and it is still behaving the way I described above.
  23. I noticed the way the rss functionality seemed to change some. Before the switch to the new software, the icons to the left of the topic name would change after you read/opened a thread. It would make it easy to distinguish new threads from older ones (at least to me ). With the newer version, the icons do not change after you have read a thread. It is something small, but it was a nice feature. I'm using the latest version of firefox, version 3.0.11.
