  1. I've sold and bought items on ARC and MAAST, and I have a question: buyer "A" PMs you first and says "I can come over this weekend". Buyer "B" PMs you after buyer A, and says "I can be there in an hour". what are the rules on who you sell to? First with cash in hand? Do you have to wait for buyer A since he PM'd first? I know I've been beat to the sellers house before and it wasnt a good feeling to go over there and what I was going to get was gone before I got there, even though he knew I was coming for it. What are y'alls thoughts on this? I'm leaning to the cash in hand gets it first, but it seems rude to do this if someone PM'd the seller first. Rey
  2. Perhaps I'm slow to learn, but I just noticed that Marine Depot has a link to Petstore.com on their website. I'm looking for an icecap 660 ballast. On MD, its 149.99 plus 9.99 for shipping, total:159.98. For Petstore.com, its 149.99 plus .70 cents for insurance, for a total of 150.69. Not a massive difference, but almost 10 bucks. Why is that? My understanding is that MD owns Petstore.com, so you get the picture.
  3. please put me second for the plate coral in case gonzo doesnt take it.
  4. I went ahead and left both of these powered up and running just to create flow, and they are working very well. If anyone sees this (misspelled) posting and you would like to have these, let me know. Until then, they'll be running in my tank
  5. pretty much like any pump, the impeller is riding on a shaft (down the center) and sits in a "well" or socket and when the K4 turns on, the impeller literally lifts up about a 1/2 inch as it spins, then falls back down into the socket, and it does this a few times until it has come up to full speed, then it sits all the way down in the socket and runs normally. This is normal behavior and many sites talk about sliding a piece of airhose on the shaft to prevent this, but I really dont want to mess with that. This manual for the Koralias will show the exploded view better than I am describing it. k4.pdf
  6. bad spelling on my part, should be Koralia I dont suppose anyone can edit that for me? it wont let me edit the posting anymore.
  7. I just bought these (2) Kroalia 4s from Don Duncan (beautiful tanks!) intending to use them as a replacement for (2) Koralia 1s that I have now. I didnt research these well enough, and Koralia says these were not designed to be used with a wavemaker. The problem they have is when the Koralia starts up, the impeller literally tries to jump out of the socket they are in, and it makes a rattling noise until the impeller is fully running. These pumps really do make great flow in my 90G, but I dont want to mess with having to slip airline on the shaft to keep the impellers from jumping at startup. I've cleaned these 2 up and they run great when they are on. I'll take what I paid for them, 30 bucks cash each (firm). I'm in Gtown, but I work in RR at dell, so I can meet anyone in this area at my building, or in Gtown. I live up by the highschool.
  8. I wonder if a cleaner shrimp would help here?
  9. I would like to get 2 of the Koralias please. PM sent.
  10. The icecap ballast can be sent into iceap and they will fix them for about 50 bucks. if its under 3 yrs old, they will fix it for free. There is a date stamp on the bottom of that ballast that shows the date it was made. Its about 50 bucks to get them repaired if its older than 3yrs, and you get a 90 day warranty. A new one is 149 at marine deport, but ocassionally they sell them for 119.00.
  11. Great article, but keep an eye on it, I had a clam go south once, the toxins it released wiped out alot of stuff, and it made the house smell horrible! But like someone's signature said, only bad things happen fast. Dont over react and start changing everything to fix it.

  14. I do my Xenias that way, put the rock next to the wall, making sure the head is touching the glass, and pretty soon, they start creeping onto the glass and eventually split.
  15. I'm curious about cheato, I've got some in my sump, and it does well, but I've gotten into the habit of stirring/moving it a bit once or twice a month. Does anyone else do this? I also wonder if the cheato should be thinned out ie: give some out on occassion to stimulate its growth. thoughts?
  16. I've had one for some time, but it used from another guy, but the software it has is old. I havnt done much with it other than monitor temp, ph and turn lights on and off. I bought some Icecap fans that have the temp sensors and they work great! Still like to see your config though
  17. I dont suppose I could get a copy of that as well, to setup my ACIII?
  18. pm sent, still interested in the rena filter.
  19. I would like the Rena. I have a generic phosban reactor too. The only semi-issue is that one side takes regular half inch tubing, but the other side is an adjustable plastic output tube. It has never seen water at all. Please pm me or call me at 680-7742 Rey
  20. if you are looking for VHOs, I stilll have these: http://www.maast.org/forums/showthread.php?t=50600
  21. I dont suppose we can do a group buy from hellolights for chillers?
  22. I use two icecap 120mm fans, they were 50 each, but they work great on my 90G with (6) t5s on it. The fans come with temperature probes that I put near the lights. water stays below 82, typically less than 81. I'm sure I would get even better cooling if I placed them in the lid of the canopy rather than behind the canopy near the wall. Long term I too would like a jbj chiller, but 650 for a 1/4hp is alot. https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~act...dor~~tab~0.html
