  1. Which canister filter do you use? Tank size? Would you buy it again if you could go back in time? Which one would you buy now if you had to get another one?
  2. Im in, let me know. I work in RR and live in gtown.
  3. Had a tank sitter accident while on vacation, chaeto is dead, can anyone spare a bit? Gtown or RR areas please.
  4. Howdy all, I'm looking for a bot of cheato for my new macro algae reactor. Its plumbed and working, just need some chaeto please. I'm in Georgetown and work in RR, but I can drive a bit if necessary. https://www.marinedepot.com/video.html
  5. the mp10s were on a ~20g, and the 40's were on a ~58gallon. We'll know more when i put the mp40s on my 90G this weekend. I'll take pics/ video to add fuel to the mp vs wavebox fire. i forgot to mention, I got a picture with Nichelle Nichols (Lt Uhura from original Star Trek). She happened to be at that hotel for some reason.
  6. Not to brag, but the wife and I had a very good time at MACNA (didnt win anything in the raffle though) . But we got to talk to all kinds of folks and vendors and got a lot of freebies! I can say I did score (2) MP40's with controllers for a VERY good price. Havnt installed them yet due to fears that I'll crank them up and the wave will grow while I am away. btw, they also had an MP60 running, its pretty good size, but was moving the water very well. I was really impressed with the (2) Mp10s they had in a tank (P9040087), the water was literally flexing up and down in the center, it was quite odd to see. The MP40s they had in the tank were also making one heck of a wave ,see p9040085 and P9040086, the two pics were taken a few seconds apart. Notice the distance the water has dropped on the left end of the tank. There was also a great dinner buffet on the first night and an excellent dinner on the second night. I would say everything was done very well, no problems and I would go again in a heartbeat. Macna 2011 is supposed to be in Iowa though, dont know about that. Attached some pics. btw, they gave away a 300G marine land tank (among others) with everything you could want, (delivered to the winner's house!).
  7. please send me your address, you can email me or text me at 512-680-7742 Rey

  8. yeah, lightning can go pretty far. My son and I were outside one evening and there was sporadic lightning off in the distance. As we watched the storm get closer, my son leaned up against a metal rain gutter downspout. Couple of lightning bolts went off in the distance, and he jumped. He didnt have a shirt on and we looked at his back where it had been touching the down spout, and it was angry red, he had been shocked/burned.
  9. I have one, but I live in Gtown, or I can bring it in to work tomorrow in Round Rock. Shoot me a PM
  10. earthquake sensitive fish?
  11. geez Mac, they should give you yours for free as a finders fee.
  12. +1...... Scribbled Rabbit fish went "ears up" Friday night/Saturday morning. Admitedly, he was the last fish added to the tank, but was also the largest. I personally prefer when they commit Gobi-cide, at least you know why they died.
  13. Is there any way to be excluded from these posting of things that I didnt know I wanted, but now I must have?
  14. How do we handle the money if we join in? Can we order ourselves (like a group order)?
  15. anyone have the customer service number for hydor? I cant seem to find it.
  16. they rejected me, apparently I wasnt supposed to remove my hand when I got shocked....
  17. more on grounding probes. http://avdil.gtri.gatech.edu/RCM/RCM/Aquarium/GroundingProbes.html This article is a little old, but has good info. All I know is I removed the K1 and no more shocks. I even tested it in a glass of water (ouch)
  18. thats a very interesting thought. In this case, its more than stray voltage, so i wonder what would happen to the grounding probe. I suppose the GFI would trip or the circuit braker would.
  19. its all about making a path for electricity to get to ground. barefooted, you are an easy path. Some shoes will insulate you better than others.
  20. well, that would explain the snails not lasting very long
  21. correct, the round plug hole. and just the metal tip of the probe in the water, and dont touch the water with your skin.
  22. well, i can say that this has been happening for some time, fish are ok. Kryptonite corals have gone south though.
  23. oh and btw, K1 for sale cheap! works great! recommend not being grounded when touching water though.
