  1. I would get shocked sometimes when I put my hands in the water and I touched the lighting, either by the sump light or by the main light on the top tank. So last night I used a volt meter to test the water (black voltmeter probe to the 3rd prong of a gounded outlet and red probe tip in the water) and turns out the Koralia1 in the main tank was putting 115v into the water (shocking!). i removed the k1 and no more voltage in the water
  2. oh, lol, I'm not that bad, I just dont see the dosing pumps, what are they under? I checked access, pumps, checmicals...
  3. please help an internet challenged person to find the dosing pumps you speak of..
  4. My two cents, I have been very happy with http://www.thefilterguys.biz/ Jim ALWAYS answer the phone, has been very knowledgeable and is quick with the shipping. he will talk your ear off and will listen. I bought the ocean wave plus, and then added another attachment (which I think ended up being the reef miser package), so I get a 1.5 to 1 ratio (1.5 waste). My suggestion, call him, you'll like him. I also bought the Co2 scrubber from him later on.
  5. not to hijack the thread, but I have a 6ft extension cable (new) for this 430 ballast. It can also be cut to be used as primary cord. Shoot me an IM. 25 bucks.
  6. I would like them, I'm close, but I wouldnt be able to get them until between 5 and 6.
  7. Anyone try one of these? I like the idea of the rowaphos not clogging or creating channels as noted by one of the reviews. http://www.aquacave.com/simplicity-chemicalbr-reactor-by-magnavore-2016.html
  8. I just replaced my (4) 48 inch T5 bulbs, so I have (4) old ones that I dont need anymore. If anyone would like these, please let me know, otherwise I'll get rid of them properly. (2) of them are Current usa 420nm and (1) is Current usa 460nm and the last one is an ATI blue plus (460nm I think). These bulbs are more than a year old, so I'm sure the color has shifted. Rey
  9. yeah, thx, I'm a bonehead.
  10. I bought a Aquacontroller 3 from a guy locally, and it works fine. The problem is that the aquanotes software that it came with is from 2005. It doesnt have the graphing etc that the later versions seem to have. My question is: Is it permissible to borrow someone's (newer) aquanotes and install it, or does Neptune frown on that? Rey
  11. had this happen to mine last year, looked like someone took a paper hole punch to him.

it actually works too well, you trap the guys you dont want first. It has a fishing line string to the door so you can open or close it without sticking your hands in the tank. Let me know if you want to try it, its just sitting my the garage on the shelf. Rey

  14. i read this the other day, basically says that the Pacific Turbo snail likes red algea http://www.aquatouch.com/algae.htm
  15. couldnt you mount the DJ with the switches pointed up, and the power cords down, so that the power cords are going up into the power sockets?
  16. Turn your Eclipse tank into a mineral oil cooled Personal Computer case! http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2008/10/mineral_oilcooled_aquarium_pc_kit_now_available_for_purchase-2/ I have one of the 12 gallon tanks if anyone wants to buy it
  17. must.....resist....telling........butt joke......ARGH!!!!!
  18. Howdy, we're going to take our first Snow trip to Albuquerque, NM. I wanted advice on the route to take to get there. Google maps shows two routes, one is up 35 to OK, then west via i40 to Alb. OR, i10 west thru Fort Stockton, El Paso and up i25 thru NM. We're driving, so I wanted to see if anyone has done this and which route would be best. Rey
  19. I havnt had algea problems, but I was recently given 5 gallons of salt water that was purhcased at one of the local stores that everyone goes to. Monday, this 5 gallons was part of the 15 gallons I used for a water change. Now I have this algea. The person that gave me the water also had this algea problem, but couldnt figure out where the algea was coming from. He would do more water changes to try to resolve the issue and unknowingly was adding more of the problem water. What kind of algea is it and how do I get rid of it? I have a Naso tang, Powder blue and coral beauty, none of them seem interested. I threw in 4 Turbos to see if they would like a snack. I'll stick to my ro/di water from now on. What is wrong with the stores water, what caused it, bad filters?
  20. +3 on the air pump. They make 12v versions for cars, fishermen use them to keep live bait aerated in a bucket or icechest for hours/days.
  21. Thank you Cindy! Great to meet you and I love your tank!
  22. Cindy had to move the date to today, I'll be heading there later.
  23. download malwarebytes (free version) from malwarebytes.org, run it and it should catch any popup programs. I use this one all the time to disinfect client systems.
  24. will he play nice with a Sepent Star? if so, I'd like to have him, I can be there about 7pm-ish, I'll send you a PM with my number, just call me if someone else can come get it before me to save me a trip. I live in Gtown. Rey
