i went ahead and changed out my media for the first time and noticed that at least 1/3rd of the media looked the "starting color", so I'm wondering if its worth it to "mix" the media in the cartridge so that alll of it is exposed before changing it out?

X comes out like Elmers glue, very dense and sinks quickly, it goes exactly where you put it (if your flow is off)

boiling water via a syringe kills them. Aiptaisia X works great! I have used lemon juice via a syringe as well, but once I found X, thats been the best.

bring a bib, thats all I have to say

my two cents, i thought I had alot of "debris" as well, turned out to be micro bubbles being drawn in from anti-siphon holes on the pipe that empties water into main tank. Once I plugged those, they went away.

this is a great topic! question, does the population in the main tank become a problem for filtration or pumps etc? I dont want to clog stuff up. I'll be setting up a 10 gallon in a couple of weeks that I'll be getting from RCA and I would like to seed the pods in that one before we add fish, but I dont want to plug anything up.

Is that an RC10_GT body as your avatar?

The jury is still out for me and my scrubber. I'm really tempted to put a 1/4 inch hole in the wall and run an air tube into the space where my ac blower unit resides since there is a vent pipe in there for the gas water heater that goes out to thru the roof.

Howdy, I need a new or nearly new co2 regulator with solenoid, mine is bad.

kingsnake (jeff) has some live rock too, he is shutting his tank down.

I have a Ultralife fish trap (modified with magnets) you can borrow, but I'm up in RR and live in Gtown(trap is at home).

my two cents: cleanup saltcreep (if any) when you do the water change. I once had saltcreep cause my icecap ballast to arc and smelled like burning plastic. Had I not been home, I'm not sure what would have happened.

I guess it would depend on what she looks like

thats the beauty of the easyblade, dont have to get wet, no more awkward angles, 3 inch wide blade. What used to take 20-30 mins now takes 2-5.
It's bliss!

I bought the easyblade unit for my 90G and I love it, it scrapes the coraline off very easily and I use a top down motion to not kick up sand. That said, if the inside scraper you have doesnt lift from the surface of the glass, you shouldnt get sand between the two. I've never seen glass get scratched by sand either, but I suppose it can happen in you try hard enough.

I would like a couple, when is good for you? I bought those Koralias from you a few months back.

I feel for you, I used to like to see the baby serpent stars in my fuge too, but scraping the sides got old and eventually I fell behind.

thats a good question, and how big is the area where your cheato is?
-
thought I would show youse people the benefits of using vinegar to clean up hardware. I like for my pumps etc to look nice and clean, so about once a month or so I take them out and soak them in vinegar for a few hours (or overnight) to clean them up. These are some Koralias. if you use vinegar, just be sure to wash it off with soap and water and rinse very well. before and after pics attached. Most if not all that stuff on the before picture falls off with very little scrubbing (if any). If you soak anything with an O-ring, I suggest you silicone the ring after soaking to make sure it stays pliable.

ok, 2 questions,
1. how much cheato is too much?
2. what lighting works for your cheato?

thanks to Chris and Garrett! "Sandy" will be loved and taken on as Padawan. I think he is from Tatooine, he seems to like the sand

I usually carve into the rock and cut the bubble off so that the bubble comes off intact. I know it looks ugly for a bit, but it gets grown over soon enough.
