  1. spot feed with power heads on, but main pump is off, so water is staying in main tank for about 20 mins.
  2. I got a Brain from Mac a year ago or so, he loves the roids!! he send out his little tendrils and gets fat!
  3. Goby? I see a 12 inch brittlestar.
  4. yeah, lightning can go pretty far. My son and I were outside one evening and there was sporadic lightning off in the distance. As we watched the storm get closer, my son leaned up against a metal rain gutter downspout. Couple of lightning bolts went off in the distance, and he jumped. He didnt have a shirt on and we looked at his back where it had been touching the down spout, and it was angry red, he had been shocked/burned.
  5. did you ever play with a glass in the bath tub water? if you put the glass in upside down, the water level in the glass is the same as the rest of the tub. In this case, the water goes over the edge and falls down the pipe.
  6. Shane at Fishy business does it. He;s on Burnet and braker (roughly)
  7. I have one, but I live in Gtown, or I can bring it in to work tomorrow in Round Rock. Shoot me a PM
  8. earthquake sensitive fish?
  9. geez Mac, they should give you yours for free as a finders fee.
  10. +1...... Scribbled Rabbit fish went "ears up" Friday night/Saturday morning. Admitedly, he was the last fish added to the tank, but was also the largest. I personally prefer when they commit Gobi-cide, at least you know why they died.
  11. I've been really happy with my Aqua-Medic Ocear Runner 6500, rated at 1600gph, and can be run in sump or outside of the sump (though its not self priming). Its a beast. Been used with my 90G for a few years now ( I am the second owner)
  12. Is there any way to be excluded from these posting of things that I didnt know I wanted, but now I must have?
  13. How do we handle the money if we join in? Can we order ourselves (like a group order)?
  14. anyone have the customer service number for hydor? I cant seem to find it.
  15. they rejected me, apparently I wasnt supposed to remove my hand when I got shocked....
  16. more on grounding probes. http://avdil.gtri.gatech.edu/RCM/RCM/Aquarium/GroundingProbes.html This article is a little old, but has good info. All I know is I removed the K1 and no more shocks. I even tested it in a glass of water (ouch)
  17. thats a very interesting thought. In this case, its more than stray voltage, so i wonder what would happen to the grounding probe. I suppose the GFI would trip or the circuit braker would.
  18. its all about making a path for electricity to get to ground. barefooted, you are an easy path. Some shoes will insulate you better than others.
  19. well, that would explain the snails not lasting very long
  20. correct, the round plug hole. and just the metal tip of the probe in the water, and dont touch the water with your skin.
  21. well, i can say that this has been happening for some time, fish are ok. Kryptonite corals have gone south though.
  22. oh and btw, K1 for sale cheap! works great! recommend not being grounded when touching water though.
  23. I would get shocked sometimes when I put my hands in the water and I touched the lighting, either by the sump light or by the main light on the top tank. So last night I used a volt meter to test the water (black voltmeter probe to the 3rd prong of a gounded outlet and red probe tip in the water) and turns out the Koralia1 in the main tank was putting 115v into the water (shocking!). i removed the k1 and no more voltage in the water
  24. yep! thought I would refrain from replying, my mouth (er.. fingers) get me into trouble alot on forums...
  25. well, is it for sale?? I'll post a formal request in the Want to Buy forum
