  1. "Sorry for the distraction on your sales thread nori!" Me too! Getting out of the way. Great frag pack and I'm sure it's going to be gone very soon.
  2. You have one already Scott. Its the Aquasd milli from me. I told you it was a looker. Dang, Ty, you're making me feel like I'm cheating on you. You know you are the main supplier of my tank! I even have a little plaque that reads "Courtesy of Farmer Ty" on the front of the glass. 😄 Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't yours have more reds in it, more similar to Nori's top colony? I was just looking at your tank shots and I'm not seeing anything quite like Nori's bottom colony with the light orange and green tips. It seemed like they are two different variations. Then again it's been a while since I've been invited to eat Vietnamese spring rolls in person at your house so I could be mistaken. 😛
  3. If you ever take a frag from the lower one I'd love to purchase a piece from you. It is a beautiful colony. I feel I need to know more! I didn't see any type of build thread, unless I missed it. You should think about putting together a tank thread and tell us more about yourself and your system, equipment, and livestock.
  4. Is the Jawbreaker more of an encrusting monti or does it tend to plate?
  5. Matt from Boom Corals put some wild and mari colonies for sale after Ty's post was made into an article over on R2R. Pretty timely; I think Matt has a good eye for marketing opportunities. 😀 I didn't buy a colony, but he did have a very nice wild that he was keeping for himself but willing to cut some large frags from. I splurged and bought one to put on the rack and take a chance because I really liked the colors. Hopefully I'll get a lucky break and it retains them. The piece he's cutting from is below:
  6. It's going to be a real pain to recover when people default. . . "We're here for the 'nem"
  7. If for some reason you're in the San Antonio area anytime in the near future you are welcome to grab some from me (along with the accompanying pods - it's like a pod condominium in my chaeto).
  8. Just to be clear in case you misread the post. . . mineral spirits is not advisable if it can come in contact with the silicone. If you read it right and going for it anyway just be careful around the seams. Good luck - hope it comes off easy.
  9. OK - when do we get to see what you're filling your newly found real estate with?
  10. I like what you're doing. I know when I have my QT going along with the display it's a pain in the rear to have to maintain two tanks. Three and it's more of a chore than a hobby. Regarding the paint: I would not personally use paint thinner, mineral spirits, or the like just because silicone can react to solvents. I would use a razor blade scraper and elbow grease. The paint "should" come off the glass without too much effort. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  11. This is exactly what I'm having to deal with now. With all the newbie research I did most everything instructed "aquaculture only". Also I had the perception that there was a stigma on those that bought colonies as opposed to growing out their own frags. My tank has a great assortment of SPS and I think it will be an outstanding display. . . when they all grow out. Until then it looks weird and I don't really know how long the wait will be - a couple years? I never would have known you had bought colonies for your tank if you hadn't said anything and it does make the tank much more enjoyable to look at. I wish I had a little more experience at the time and a separate coral QT. I think in hindsight I would have purchased a few colonies for fillers as well.
  12. When you finally transfer those frags to your DT it's going to be amazing; such a great head start on growth. Without a frag tank I've had to glue everything direct without the benefit of seeing the growth pattern and color mature a bit and just hope I made the right choice. That RR the Vinh picture helped me to put that frag a bit more front and center in my tank yesterday. I've had it on my frag rack to use as a filler later on, but I find that coral particularly beautiful.
  13. Jolt - the pics are great, too. . . I was complimenting the frags! 😋
  14. They look better than the colony shots from Battlecorals or Fraghouse. Very nice!
  15. I'm referring to the arms being inflated like a bubble tip. Mine gets much bigger overall than that pic, but usually the arms are a lot thinner and longer. Today the arms were more inflated than usual. I definitely will have to part with mine if it reaches volleyball size. I would be more enthusiastic about it if my two clowns gave a darn theat it is in the tank with them. 😟
  16. I've been told Sherman's don't inflate very much. This is about as inflated as I ever see it get:
  17. I don't think you or I ever sleep. Your clownfish live luxuriously. 🤩
  18. Wow - whatever happened I'm sorry it lead to you having to get rid of everything. I know you've been working hard on putting it all together. Best of luck.
  19. Cross-posting from my R2R tank build. . . I lowered a monti cap into a position where I have a strong eddy current and look at how thick it's becoming in response: Also took a pic of a Tyree undata that is further back in the tank and hard to focus. This has been a very slow grower. Played with taking some top down shots with my phone through a coral viewer at lunch: Red Dragon, Hawkin's, Pearlberry, RR the Vinh, and a speciosa I saved from a LFS: BC Grape Juice, ASD Rainbow Mille, RR Red Rage, and an Oregon Tort from Farmer Ty's collection: UC Strawberry Shortcake finally encrusting:
  20. If I make the smallest movement he flies back into the pvc. Buck-up Big Guy - you are supposed to be the boss, not a nancy-fish.
  21. New additions to the quarantine tank from Exotic Marine Fish in Houston. Beautiful healthy bimac anthias; three females and a male. The male is still being shy and won't come out of his PVC pipe but he's nearly twice as large as the females. I was able to get the females to eat mysis this morning with no problem whatsoever.
  22. So right now I'm a "grower" and not a "shower". 🤣
  23. 1.5 to 2 mos growth? Wow, that makes my progress pics look like I'm going backward. Very nice. Is "Coral Envy" a clinical term?
