  1. Hmmm... something is out of sorts with my system. Some of my montis are starting to STN and one SPS RTN overnight! Time to run some tests!

STN on only the montis, but it looks like its stopped. One SPS RTN but that was it. Odd.

  2. Haha, there are plenty of them out there! Go find them Niko!!!
  3. Oh no! Another LED convert! They are everywhere! Haha. Congrats Dave! Lighting looks great. That bucket of dead corals almost brings a tear to my eye. I've been in this too long and too emotionally attached now! I'll pour some saltwater on the ground for those that didn't make it!
  4. Whoa, I love it when old posts get resurrected from the dead! Kudos to Mark for the response. -Ty
  5. Just did some inbox housecleaning for the upcoming frag fest Part III. Look for something this Sunday or Monday!

I know you're all about the SPS Wizard, gotcha covered. This is just for zoas. Esacjack, why do you think I am selling corals... honeymoon man! My wedding is in 4 weeks!

  6. Holy fungia gods!!! That's some amazing growth! -Ty
  7. Sweet find. Keep us updated on the build.
  8. Some type of granulosa. My skittles granulosa looks similar to that but with different coloration. Looks sweet!
  9. There was a theory about communal crabs, shrimp, and fish that live within acro colonies preventing AEFWs from destroying colonies in the wild and that the prevalence of AEFWs in the reefing community is spurred by the lack of these communal animals in our captive colonies. Interesting theory I wanted to pass along.
  10. That's awesome! Acro crabs don't last long in my tank unfortunately with the big tangs swimming around. Good find man! -Ty
  11. Nice find! I wonder if the colonies are maricultured or collected? Have you always had pretty good success with keeping big colonies happy during the transition to an enclosed reef system? I never tried but I am curious. -Ty
  12. Big fan of 2 coral plus, 1 purple plus, and one blue plus. 14k color with a good pop for reds and greens. I am not a fan of too blue of a tank. I actually have 4 bulbs I bought last month during the last BRS group buy and ran for a week before going back to only MH setup. They have been used a week and then taken offline. Currently offered to someone but if they don't take them, I will post on for sale thread. 2 blue plus, 1 coral plus, 1 purple plus -48"
  13. I would be happy to be a tester for your home brewing endeavors however... sign me up!
  14. I went into Austin Homebrew to get my CO2 cylinder filled for my calcium reactor and was almost blown away by how much went into the brewing process... they had so many options for everything. I figured my tank keeps me occupied enough so maybe I will start home brewing one day when my tank decides to crash on me or something... or when my APEX decides to take over entirely and just lets me watch from that point on. -Ty

    ID please

I'd say little baby frogspawn/hammer/anchor polyps. They grow on the sides of the main branching colony. -Ty
  16. Welcome to the hobby! I wish I got a free tank when I first started... wait... I did! LOL!
  17. There will be some better photos once Brians.rock and I can sync our schedules and he comes over with his fancy camera.
  18. Just to give some incentive for my FRAGS FOR REFERRALS promotion mentioned below, I have provided a list of my corals and some teaser pictures of some of the possible choices for your 3 free frags for referrals that end in closings! "If you or someone you know might be interested in selling and/or buying a home, please send me a quick email or phone call. Even if the thoughts are still in their infancy, I welcome the opportunity to show you what I can provide to help you realize your dream. As a token of my appreciation, a small gift will accompany any referral that results in a closing. For my Austin Reef Club friends, that means any three frags (over 125 species in my tank) you want from my tank for a referral that goes to closing! If you think that is great, imagine what gift awaits you if you buy or sell your home with me! My goal is to earn a client’s business and keep it through all the stages of life by treating each home sale or purchase as if it were my own. Thank you in advance and I wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2013 in your reefing endeavors! I look forward to the opportunity to earn your business!" 19. I go to the asian market, MT supermarket, and load up on all kinds of random seafood and blend it all together and flatten it out in ziplock bags. Works great and way cheaper than buying pre-made frozen mixes. Also, great source for dried nori (they have about a million varieties at the store, just make sure it is dried nori and nothing else).
  20. I did the same thing when raising two baby clownfish in my main DT. I used the stitching fiber instead of eggcrate (smaller holes) and used chaeto for them to hide in while living there. All my tangs started grazing on any chaeto that would stick out of it but it wasn't enough full access that they could eat all of it. Kept them nice and busy for awhile until I removed the clownfish grow out area. -Ty
  21. Sweet! I got my eye candy fix! Great stuff!
  22. Nice. Welcome to the club! Lets see a pic of the 28-gallon!
