  1. Plenty of GSP to go around. I only have anthelia though, sorry for mis-representing.
  2. Sorta, kinda, not really. I'd love to have an Amano style but don't have the time for it. At this point I just want the plants to grow well, not kill my fish, and have a pretty view.
  3. Bump. Cheato ready for pruning. Still plenty of xenia/gsp too. Sorry Renee, I didn't see your reply until today. The xenia and gsp are very easy. They are like crabgrass for a reef.
  4. Howdy all! Figured I'd finally start my build thread. A bit of background: I started a 58g as a saltwater back in the fall of 08 and after upgrading it in Jan of this year, decided to convert it to a real planted setup. We have a 50g that was very low tech planted, 65w PC, no CO2, only sand, etc, with South American species in it that will be moving over. Earlier this summer I finally got around to setting the 58 up. I started with Eco-complete topped with about 1/2-3/4" of sand. I bought a solenoid from a guy on theplantedtank, a CO2 tank from Austin Homebrew Supply, used the T5 light I had for the reef(Aquactinics TX5, 5x39w T5), and a 2215. I built my own Rex Reactor from left over PVC I had from the new SW setup. I initially started it with just a HOB filter to cycle the tank and got the CO2/Eheim setup going this week. I'm going to leave the HOB running another week, just until the 2215 gets fully going. Sorry for the bubbles in the pic. After about 2 weeks of just sand I added some plants; a amazon sword, a few clumps of hemianthus, and something that looks like red hornwort and a large piece of driftwood. Of course, without CO2 running and the high lighting, I got algae. Nasty, bright green slimy/stringy stuff mostly. About 3 weeks ago I dropped in two bettas to help it along, then added a few tetras and cory cats from the existing 50g. Here's a pic:
  5. Particle size, IMO, is based on your preference and fish choices. In your case, grammas don't bury themselves so it's up to you. Do not spend the money on "live" sand. It will become live on it's own. The zoas won't be bothered by the sand storm. If you want to sell the gramma, I'd be interested in him.
  6. Dang! Can I get 2nd dibs on the wavebox if Chalinda bails out?
  7. I already called dibs on Bart. In fact, I've had him twice now!
  8. HEY! I'm back in town! WTH, man?! Glad you got rid of it before I could kill it.
  9. Cause we're mostly guys who like cooking dead animals over fire and will judge you based on your purchase of cooking hardware. So, hurry up and post a pic of the darn smoker!
  10. We all know you picked that up at The Salt Lick and just put it on at home and took a pic.
  11. Or everyone can just take a big sip of the Kool Aid apple flavor and hasten the full world domination.
  12. Now, let 'em grow in to full colonies before you hack them all up.
  13. Check DFWMAS, it's a little closer.
  14. In a attempt to coax water from the sky I'm starting a 'when is it gonna rain' contest. The winner gets a frag combo of my choosing( GSP and Cheato ). I'd like to encourage others to contribute a frag of something too. The rules: 1) Guesses must be made by Friday the 5th. Anything past that date doesn't count. 2) It must rain at my house. If anyone else wants to contribute a frag, it must rain at their place too. 3) A sprinkle doesn't count.
  15. What about the livestock?
  16. Just move to either side.
