  1. I didn't pay near $450 for mine.

I went with it for small footprint, ability to modify flow patterns, no motor in tank. I debated it vs a Tunze nano wavebox, and the potential, albeit small, for tank destruction from wave forces pushed me to the Vortech. I have played with the wave function of the Vortech but have not used it for any length of time. As far as noise goes, I hear it from time to time but it is no louder than the skimmer bubbling away. I did notice the motor ramping in wave mode, which may have impacted me not running it that way too.

Mine fell apart twice, in the space of a few days, about a month ago and hasn't done it since then. Been running it for about a year. Mine is a gen 2, which supposedly solved the falling apart issue (for the most part).

  2. Howdy all,

I have a 2217 that was on one of my FW tanks, but not running for the last 2 months or so. It still had water in it.

I pulled it off today and, aside from the stink, found a black coating inside it. It came off easily enough, but I'm curious if anyone

    has experienced something similar.

I'm going to let it air dry and get new sponges and ceramic rings just to be safe. Other thoughts?

  3. +3(I think) on a 6 line.

I had a run of them when my tank was new, seemed to drop off after a few weeks or a month. Can't recall if the 6 line was present then or not though.

  4. PAR of 200 at 29" and with a very steep drop off? You will have to be _very_ careful about what corals you stock _and_ where you place them.

Regardless, it seems like a cool fixture.

  5. Generated another decent frag of the Anthelia today, probably 10 polyps total, along with 3 stalks containing 5-8 polyps each of Xenia if anyone wants them. As I have to work tomorrow, they will only stay around until bedtime tonight.

Lemme know if you want them.

  6. Different genus altogether.

Size and speed of colony expansion is about the only practical difference, IME. The Xenia is slightly faster.

My Xenia is pink and pulses nicely; half the time the frags are pulsing in the ziploc baggie!

The Anthelia is varying shades of pink, ranging from dusty rose(I'm a bit disturbed I know this color but it's a reflection of growing up in the 80's) to pale pink.

  7. Howdy all,

I've got a frag of Anthelia with 7 or 8 polyps, along with 1 stalk of Xenia with 4-5 polyps on it, ready to go tonight.

I might hold onto it until tomorrow if someone wants it but cant get it tonight, otherwise they are going down the toilet tomorrow night if not.

    Lemme know!
